A Ukrainian military source said earlier that an oil terminal in Russia's second city, located about 850km from the nearest part of the Ukrainian border, had been targeted as part of a "new stage in this area".

“Last night we hit the target and it flew exactly 1,250 kilometers last night,” said Oleksandr Kamyshin, Ukraine’s Minister of Strategic Industries, who oversees weapons production.
A Russian-appointed official in southeastern Ukraine earlier said Ukraine had tried and failed to target a Russian Baltic Sea oil port with drones.
Nearly two years since Moscow launched a full-scale assault on Ukraine in February 2022, the latest offensive shows how Kyiv is trying to strike back, including at targets deep inside Russia.
Kiev is trying to develop and produce longer-range attack drones to narrow the gap in strike capabilities with Russia, which regularly conducts long-range aerial bombardments of Ukraine with missiles and drones.
Kiev has used drones and missiles to attack targets on the Black Sea peninsula of Crimea, which Russia seized and annexed in 2014.
