On July 21, the Department of Medical Examination and Treatment Management ( Ministry of Health ) issued an official dispatch on the implementation of prevention and response to storm No. 3, ensuring medical examination and treatment.
According to forecasts, storm No. 3 is developing in a complex and unpredictable manner with a wide range of impacts, causing heavy rain in many localities. In order to proactively and effectively respond, ensure that medical examination and treatment are not interrupted, and organize timely and safe treatment for patients.

The Department of Medical Examination and Treatment Management requests the Department of Health of provinces and cities in the Northern and Central regions to arrange for Department leaders to be on duty 24/7; direct and be responsible for supervising and inspecting affiliated hospitals to be ready to respond to emergency situations before, during and after the storm.
In addition, units need to publicize hotline numbers; deploy disaster response plans at the unit; ensure human resources, medicine, chemicals, medical equipment, and emergency vehicles to be ready to support when requested.
The above hospitals have deployed a review of facilities and medical equipment, especially in areas at risk of flooding and landslides, to ensure hospital safety according to regulations and instructions of the Ministry of Health.
Hospitals must prepare human resources, ambulances, equipment, drugs, and consumables for at least 2 mobile emergency teams (note the facilities serving trauma emergencies).
Hospitals in areas predicted to be affected by the storm have proactive plans to evacuate patients, medical equipment, and medicine to solid areas that can withstand the impact of the storm.
At the same time, move seriously ill patients, ventilators and other emergency resuscitation equipment to higher floors to avoid flooding; apply measures to secure and secure medical equipment, doors, windows, etc. to prevent storms from moving, causing casualties and secondary damage.
Medical facilities prepare backup generators and sufficient fuel to maintain power supply for emergency and treatment.

Hanoi urgently directs medical work to combat storm Wipha
On July 21, the Hanoi Department of Health issued urgent document No. 338/SYT-NVY to directors of medical units in the city and health stations in wards/communes regarding urgent implementation of response work to prevent, control and respond to storm No. 3 (international name: Wipha).
Accordingly, the Hanoi Department of Health requested units to closely monitor the developments of storm No. 3 on mass media, proactively and promptly respond to any developments of rain and storm.

Units ensure absolute safety for patients, medical staff, medicines, supplies and equipment. Actively review and inspect facilities (pay attention to glass doors and shutters of rooms on high floors to take safety measures); strengthen protection against whirlwinds, floods and waterlogging, especially in units in low-lying areas with high risk of flooding.
Prepare human resources, materials, medicine, chemicals for flood and storm prevention, search and rescue. Respond to the duty of on-duty, emergency 24/24 hours, ready to receive and provide emergency aid to victims affected by rain and storm. Mobile emergency teams are always ready to respond when ordered.
The Hanoi Department of Health also requested units to strengthen food safety and epidemic prevention during and after the storm. At the same time, promptly report any unusual developments to the Department of Health for timely guidance.
Since May, there have been many heavy rains causing localized flooding and landslides in some localities and it is forecasted that in the coming time, there will be storms and many heavy rains.
Faced with this situation, in order to avoid interruption of medical work in response to natural disasters, the Hanoi Department of Health has issued many documents directing the implementation of medical work.
