Responding to tropical depression near the East Sea that could strengthen into a storm

On the afternoon of September 16, a representative of the Department of Dyke Management and Natural Disaster Prevention and Control said that the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) had just sent a telegram to ministries, branches and localities from Quang Ninh to Binh Thuan to respond to the tropical depression near the East Sea that could strengthen into a storm.

Accordingly, according to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, a tropical depression is active in the sea east of Luzon Island (Philippines). At 10:00 a.m. the same day, the tropical depression had coordinates of 17.1 degrees North latitude, 124.4 degrees East longitude with winds of level 6-7, gusts of level 9. It is forecasted that in the next 24 hours, the tropical depression will move west at a speed of 15-20km/h, intensity of level 7, gusts of level 9 and is likely to strengthen into a storm.

To proactively respond to the developments of the tropical depression, the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development requested ministries, branches, and Chairmen of People's Committees of coastal provinces and cities from Quang Ninh to Binh Thuan to closely monitor the developments of the tropical depression.

At the same time, strictly manage vehicles going out to sea, organize counting, notify owners of vehicles, captains of ships and boats operating at sea of the location, direction of movement and developments of tropical depressions so that they can proactively avoid, escape or not move into dangerous areas.

Dangerous area in the next 24 hours: From latitude 15.0 - 19.0, east of longitude 118.0 (dangerous area is adjusted in forecast bulletins).

The Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development also requested ministries, branches and localities to prepare forces and means for rescue when requested.

The coastal information station system and mass media agencies from central to local levels have increased measures to inform authorities at all levels, owners of vessels operating at sea and people about the developments of tropical depressions so that they can proactively prevent and respond.

Be on duty seriously and regularly report to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (through the Department of Dyke Management and Disaster Prevention and Control).
