Many barriers were deployed at deep flooded areas. |
From the night of June 12 to the morning of June 13, heavy rains poured down over a wide area, causing severe flooding on many provincial, inter-commune and inner-city roads in many localities. Water levels ranged from 30cm to over 1.5m, isolating many areas, obstructing traffic and seriously affecting people's lives.
To respond promptly, the Department of Construction has coordinated with local authorities to deploy barriers at deeply flooded areas and set up checkpoints to ensure traffic safety on a series of routes such as Provincial Road 4 Quang Phuoc, TL5 Dap Da, TL8A Quang Tho, TL12D Binh Thanh, TL12B Huong Ho, TL15B Loc Bon, TL19 Sia town, TL25B Thuy Bang... Many locations were completely blocked to avoid the risk of accidents due to fast-flowing water.
Of which, the TL49B section through Ba Bau Cho residential group (Phong Hoa ward) is flooded 0.3 - 0.5m deep over a length of 100m. The TL17B route from Hien An - Ben Cui to Vinh Huong (Phong Dien) is submerged by flood water up to 1m deep, stretching 300m. The WB2 Sia - Mai Duong road, the inter-commune road of Quang Phuoc - Phu Luong and many other inter-village and inter-commune routes are also flooded from 20 - 80cm. In Quang Phu commune, people in Xuan Tuy village have to use boats to move in water up to 0.8m high.

Similar situations occurred in many communes in Phu Loc and Phu Vang districts, with a series of rural traffic routes submerged. Some villages such as Loc An and Loc Dien were completely cut off.
In Huong Tra town, more than 1,300 hectares of rice were flooded. Huong Toan commune alone suffered major damage with 546 hectares of rice submerged in water; Huong Xuan, Huong Chu, Huong Van and Tu Ha wards also recorded significant damage. About 150 hectares of crops were damaged in these localities.

Localized flooding has occurred on some roads in Phu Xuan district. In Long Ho ward, La Khe Trem road (in the old Huong Tho commune) under construction was eroded due to heavy rain, the construction unit is urgently repairing. Huong So ward and An Hoa ward, Huong Vinh, Phu Hau have some roads slightly flooded.
Heavy rains have flooded all 1,285 hectares of newly sown rice in agricultural cooperatives in the area. In addition, about 310 hectares of various vegetables have also been affected by prolonged heavy rains. In the face of the continuing complicated weather situation, the People's Committees of wards in Phu Xuan district have been proactively implementing measures to respond to natural disasters according to the "four on-site" motto.
According to the Hue City Hydrometeorological Center, in the next 12 hours, the flood on the Huong River will continue to rise, possibly exceeding alert level 2; the Bo River will fluctuate at alert level 2-3. The O Lau and Truoi rivers will also be at high levels and will fall slowly.
Authorities remind people to travel on Provincial Road 4. |
The risk of flash floods, landslides in mountainous areas, and riverbank erosion in low-lying areas still exists. Waterway transport, agricultural production, aquaculture activities and people's lives will be seriously affected if heavy rains continue.
The People's Committee of Huong Tra town has issued an urgent telegram, directing forces to be on duty around the clock, readying rescue vehicles, and at the same time advising people to limit movement through deeply flooded areas, especially at culverts, bridges, and steep hill areas at risk of landslides.
After 10am on June 13, although the rain has decreased, it still occurs. Local people need to pay attention to rain and floods to have plans to ensure the safety of life and property.
