On May 13, VPF Company announced the unified start time of 3 Vietnamese professional tournaments for the 2025-2026 season. Accordingly, V-League will start from August 15, 2025 and end on June 18, 2026.
The national first division starts from September 19, 2025 to June 17, 2026. The National Cup qualifiers take place from September 13, 2025 and end on June 25, 2026 with the final match.
To mark the new season, the national super cup match between the 2024-2025 V-League champion and the 2024-2025 National Cup champion will take place on August 9, 2025.
The organizing committee has determined that the 2025-2026 season has two options for pausing the competition because of the 33rd SEA Games and the U23 Asian finals (if U23 Vietnam wins a ticket to Saudi Arabia).
First, the 2025-2026 V-League will "avoid" the 33rd SEA Games (taking place in Thailand from December 3 to December 20). Starting from the make-up match of round 8 until the return of round 9, the V-League will be suspended for 58 days.
The remaining option is that the 2025-2026 V-League will be "ceded" to the 33rd SEA Games and the Vietnam U23 team will participate in the U23 Asian finals (from January 7, 2026 to January 25, 2026), a total of 84 days (not including the make-up matches of round 10 and round 1/8 of the national cup).
During the tournament's suspension, the teams will have to "practice alone" and play friendly matches for nearly 3 months.
Thus, the 2025-2026 season of Vietnamese professional football continues to face the problem of the tournament having to take very long breaks to make time for the national youth teams to perform international duties.
This has caused much debate in the past between the clubs and VFF, VPF. However, this issue is not easy to handle, because on one side is the national mission, on the other side are the interests of professional football teams, budgets from bosses and sponsors.
Transfer window for 2025-2026 season :
Phase 1 from July 15, 2025 to September 14, 2025.
Phase 2 from January 25, 2026 to March 17, 2026.
