V-League, First Division postpones matches due to national mourning

V-League and First Division matches will not take place during the two days of National Mourning on May 24 and 25 and will be postponed to May 26 and 27.

Pursuant to the announcement of the Central Executive Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam , the National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, the President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, the Government of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front on mourning for former Politburo member, former President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Tran Duc Luong according to the National Mourning ceremony for 2 days, from May 24 to 25, 2025.

The Organizing Committee of Vietnam's professional football tournaments for the 2024 - 2025 season has adjusted the schedule for round 24, the make-up match of round 23 of the V-League and round 20 of the First Division.

Specifically, V-League and First Division matches will not take place on May 24 and 25, and will be postponed to May 26 and 27.

The make-up match of round 23 of V-League between B. Binh Duong - Cong An Ha Noi was postponed to May 30.

With the postponement of the V-League and First Division matches, the plan to gather U22 and the Vietnamese national team must also change.

Previously, the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) planned to gather the two teams from May 26.

It is expected that U22, the Vietnamese national team, will gather from May 28 and will have full squad after May 30 (the end of the make-up match of round 23 of the V-League).

U22 Vietnam is focusing on continuing the process of selecting players for the 2025 Southeast Asian U23 Championship (taking place from July 15 to 31 in Indonesia), the 2025 Asian U23 qualifiers (September in Phu Tho ) and focusing on the 33rd SEA Games (December in Thailand).

Meanwhile, the Vietnamese team is gathering to prepare for the match against the Malaysian team on June 10, within the framework of the second match of Group F of the final qualifying round of the 2027 Asian Cup. The team is expected to have another international friendly match.
