Young people learn about the "Special War" Strategy
The Vietnam Military History Museum is one of six national museums, leading the system of museums in the Army, with an area of 38.66 hectares. The main building of the museum includes 4 floors above ground and 1 ground floor, with a total construction area of 23,198m². The architectural highlight is the 45m high Victory Tower, a proud symbol of the nation's indomitable fighting spirit.
Currently, the museum preserves more than 150,000 valuable artifacts, including 4 national treasures including 2 MiG-21 aircraft (serial numbers 4324, 5121), T54B tank (serial number 843) and the Ho Chi Minh Campaign Determination map, which truly reflects the glorious historical journeys of the Vietnamese army. With the role of not only a place to preserve history, the museum is also a place to attract tourists, arouse patriotism and national pride in the young generation, contributing to spreading historical values in the community.
The museum displays many valuable artifacts.
Even though it is midweek, the museum still attracts a large number of visitors, including families, students, and veterans. In particular, before the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day on September 2, many young people also invested in accessories, wearing Ao Dai, costumes printed with the national flag or uniforms to show their love for the country and people to take souvenir photos at the museum.
Passing through the museum gate, the historical space appears right from both sides of the outdoor exhibition area with many artifacts that move viewers. The space inside the museum is like a vivid flow of time, divided into 6 themes throughout the length of national history, from the early days of founding and defending the country, to the resistance wars against foreign invaders, the journey of national unification and building and defending the Fatherland.
Donated T54B vehicle number 843 is one of four national treasures displayed at the museum.
The topics are arranged in chronological order, with a reasonable layout. The artifacts are specifically annotated, attached with event information, along with a variety of presentation types including text, information lookup screens, photo documents, automatic explanations and QR codes to look up information about artifacts and images, making learning easier, more attractive, and closer to young people.
As a visitor from Ho Chi Minh City, Ms. Nguyen Hong said: “In the museum, what impressed me most were the 3D images depicting important battles in the nation’s history. The scene vividly recreates part of the fierce battle, helping viewers feel more clearly the brave spirit and steadfast will to “die for the Fatherland” of our ancestors.”
The thematic exhibition area is a place to preserve historical values, a creative space where heroic stories are recreated through works of art. In addition to the permanent exhibition areas, the museum regularly organizes thematic exhibitions to honor important historical events and typical military figures. These exhibitions bring a new and profound perspective on military history, contributing to enriching the knowledge and emotions of viewers.

The 45m high Victory Tower - a proud symbol of the indomitable fighting spirit of the Vietnamese people
“As a young person growing up in peacetime, sometimes I have not really felt the full value of independence and freedom. Today, in the solemn space of the museum, amidst the sacred atmosphere of major holidays, I feel more deeply than ever the price of peace - that is the blood, tears, and silent sacrifices of many generations of ancestors” - Nguyen Thi Huong Ngoan (student, living in Nghe An province).
Leaving the Vietnam Military History Museum, our hearts were filled with pride, deep gratitude and above all, a sense of responsibility. The responsibility of a young person in continuing the glorious tradition, living up to what the previous generation sacrificed to preserve. And we believe that anyone who has ever experienced visiting the museum will forever keep in their hearts an emotion and unforgettable memories./.
