Van Don is building a vital transportation network.

Recognizing that the transportation network is the lifeblood of the economy , in 2024 Van Don district paid special attention to disbursing public investment funds for the construction of key transportation projects, creating close connections between the local areas with the commencement, repair, and upgrading of 14 transportation projects.

Mr. Tran Quoc Viet, Director of the District's Investment and Construction Project Management Board, said: "Despite facing many difficulties regarding weather, natural disasters, and construction material sources, the transportation projects have been completed according to the set plan, ensuring safe travel for people and convenient New Year celebrations. In 2025, the district will continue to implement 11 transportation projects, creating momentum for a synchronized transportation infrastructure system and driving socio-economic development."

The upgraded and expanded transportation infrastructure has helped Van Don district develop in many aspects in 2024.

In 2024, Van Don was also one of the localities in the province with a high disbursement rate of public investment capital. The total public investment capital plan allocated by the province to district-level investors after balancing the budget was 612,489 million VND. Immediately after the allocation of the plan, the District People's Committee requested investors to focus machinery and equipment to accelerate the progress of transitional projects, newly started projects, and finalize accounts for completed projects. By December 10, 2024, the district had disbursed nearly 350 billion VND, reaching 56.2% of the annual plan.

Many projects that have been put into operation have proven highly effective, such as: the project to build infrastructure for the resettlement area in Ha Long commune (16,548 million VND); the project for technical and social infrastructure in the resettlement area and administrative area serving the land clearance project for Quang Ninh airport (10,011 million VND); the project to renovate, upgrade and mitigate the consequences of rain and floods (phase 2) on the Ban Sen - Tan Lap road (32,454 million VND)...

Continuing to complete key projects carried over from 2024 and new projects in 2025, the district will urgently and decisively finalize investment procedures and select contractors in accordance with regulations and procedures to ensure early construction; proactively coordinate with relevant departments and units to promptly handle procedures according to regulations.

The Ninh Hai-Nam Hai inter-village road in Minh Chau commune is currently being resurfaced to ensure completion on schedule before the 2025 New Year.

Mr. Vu Duc Huong, Chairman of the People's Committee of Van Don District, said: Van Don will further strengthen the inspection and supervision of construction quality of projects, resolutely preventing violations of investment procedures and ensuring the quality of construction; paying attention to directing the preparation, verification, and approval of final project accounts, ensuring that projects do not violate the prescribed deadlines, requiring investors to closely monitor the volume and quality of completed works, and absolutely not allowing any outstanding construction debts. At the same time, it will direct the review, classification, and evaluation of the quality of design consultants, supervision consultants, and construction contractors implementing projects; resolutely eliminating contractors with poor quality, irresponsibility, and lack of credibility, while strengthening training and further improving the quality of bidding procedures to promptly address any problems that may arise.
