DNO - On the afternoon of June 9, the City People's Committee coordinated with the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations to organize an international workshop "Developing the Da Nang innovative startup ecosystem and people-to-people diplomacy in connecting and mobilizing resources".
Attending the workshop were President of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations Nguyen Phuong Nga, Director of the Department of Market Development and Science and Technology Enterprises ( Ministry of Science and Technology ) Pham Hong Quat and representatives of embassies of various countries. On the city side, there was Permanent Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Ho Ky Minh.

Speaking at the opening of the workshop, Permanent Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Ho Ky Minh informed that in recent years, the city's innovative startup ecosystem has been formed and developed with many diverse elements connected and supporting each other.
The city has issued many policies, programs, and plans to create a legal basis and foundation to promote innovative start-up activities and achieve positive results: technical facilities serving the development of innovative start-ups have been gradually invested and built.
The innovative startup business community is constantly increasing in quantity and quality.
Among them, there are a number of innovative startups with high-tech platforms, keeping up with development trends, especially in the fields of information technology, artificial intelligence applications... attracting investment capital from domestic and international investment funds.
With the achieved results, Da Nang city was twice awarded the "Attractive City for Innovative Startups" award by the Vietnam Software and Information Technology Services Association in 2020 and 2022.
To continue developing the city's innovative startup ecosystem, the workshop is an opportunity to consult and learn from international models and experiences in building and operating an innovative startup ecosystem and how to access foreign resources (experts, capital, technology); connecting and strengthening friendship and development cooperation between Vietnam in general, Da Nang city in particular, and European and Asian countries.
At the same time, promote the role of people-to-people diplomacy to serve the cause of national construction and development, promote cultural diplomacy strategy, connect and promote the image of Da Nang city to international friends.

President of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations Nguyen Phuong Nga said that innovative startups and promoting business development are always a driving force, creating important resources for the development of each country, especially in the era of the fourth industrial revolution.
In recent years, the State has had many policies and guidelines, creating the most favorable conditions to support innovative startups.
Da Nang City plays a central role in the Central Highlands region, is one of three national innovation and startup centers, with the formation and continuous development of support organizations, incubators, venture capital funds, angel investors and especially the innovation and startup business community.
The workshop is one of the key activities of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations to support and promote innovative startups in Da Nang in particular and in Vietnam in general.
This is a good opportunity to share information, exchange and discuss policies and practices in implementing innovative startup programs in Da Nang and especially to refer to models and experiences of some countries in Europe and Asia that have strengths and have achieved many achievements in building and operating innovative startup ecosystems.
“We hope and believe that the delegates will share valuable experiences, provide recommendations and solutions on building and operating an innovative startup ecosystem that can be applied appropriately to the reality of Da Nang as well as other localities in Vietnam.
The success of the workshop will contribute practically to the goal of making Da Nang a center for startups, innovation and a livable coastal city of Asian stature by 2045, as well as promoting the image of Da Nang, promoting friendship and cooperation between Da Nang in particular and Vietnam in general with people of countries around the world," said Ms. Nga.

The international workshop "Developing the Danang innovative startup ecosystem and people-to-people diplomacy in connecting and mobilizing resources" includes a plenary opening session and 2 thematic sessions.
Accordingly, the first session with the theme: "Da Nang: Building and developing a national innovation and startup center and the experience of some successful countries in the world in the field of innovation and startup" provided an overview of the current situation of building and developing the innovation and startup ecosystem of Da Nang city.
In addition, delegates shared the State's macro policies in building and developing the innovation startup ecosystem in some developed countries such as Australia and Korea; the needs of Da Nang as well as the recommendations of the Ministry of Science and Technology for Da Nang in the process of building and developing to become a national innovation startup center.
Session 2 on "Activities to support innovative startups in Da Nang city from the perspective of experts, business community and recommendations to promote innovative startup connections between Da Nang city and international partners".
At this session, experts and businesses focused on discussing two main contents: "Identifying and promoting the role of factors in the innovative startup ecosystem; connecting and mobilizing resources under the perspective of speakers and experts" and "Sharing experiences, practical lessons, developing business activities and innovative startups of experts and the business community".
This is an open, in-depth and highly practical discussion session between domestic and foreign experts, businesses and delegates interested in the field of innovation to share practical experiences, strategies and policies to attract investors, propose solutions to support the development of innovation and startups as well as sustainable connections between businesses and universities in promoting startup activities of the young generation, contributing to building a dynamic society and improving the quality of labor resources.
