Van Lam joins Vietnam national team after more than half a year of absence

(NLDO) - Goalkeeper Dang Van Lam officially joined his teammates in Ho Chi Minh City to prepare for two matches against Nepal in the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers.

On the afternoon of October 4, Dang Van Lam returned to the Vietnamese team after more than half a year of absence.

As for goalkeeper Van Lam, his most recent match registered with the Vietnamese team was a friendly match against India (October 12, 2024), on the bench.

At the FIFA Days gathering in October 2025, coach Kim Sang-sik summoned 24 players, but Quang Hai was absent at the last minute because he had not yet recovered from an injury to his right shoulder joint.

With Quang Hai absent, the Vietnamese team will have only 23 players this afternoon. Today, goalkeeper Van Viet is the first to arrive, most of the remaining players will travel with the coaching staff.

In this training session, the whole team will start training from tomorrow (October 5). The preparation time for Kim Sang-sik and his team will be 4 days before the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers. Meanwhile, Nepal will only have 1 day of training when they will only be in Ho Chi Minh City on the evening of October 7.
