Passenger transport units strive to serve people's travel needs well on the occasion of April 30 holiday.

Mr. Nguyen Chi Hieu, Deputy Director of the Department of Construction, said that in order to better serve the travel needs of people during the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the South and national reunification (April 30) and International Labor Day (May 1), the department requested relevant units to arrange staff on duty regularly to promptly issue badges to additional vehicles at the bus station and receive and process information through the journey monitoring device and the hotline number of the Department of Construction about the transport situation in the province.

Along with that, the Department of Construction requires its affiliated units to guide drivers and service staff on vehicles to run on the correct route, schedule, and registered itinerary, collect tickets at the correct price, and improve the spirit of serving passengers; require bus companies to inspect and repair vehicles to ensure good technical condition; strictly prohibit drivers from drinking alcohol while driving, self-raising ticket prices, and picking up and dropping off passengers in violation of regulations. Bus companies are not allowed to transport livestock and poultry on passenger transport vehicles that have not been quarantined, and must post transportation fares on vehicles according to regulations...

The Department of Construction also directed the unit's traffic safety department to strictly implement the traffic safety procedures in automobile transportation business activities; transport units and drivers coordinate and promptly inform the authorities via the hotline number to proactively handle situations on the means of transport to ensure passenger safety.

More flights, no increase in fares

Mr. Pham Tuan Kha, Deputy Director of Binh Duong Bus Station, said that the demand for passenger travel during the April 30 holiday is expected to increase by about 50% compared to normal days. All bus companies have increased trips, specifically the Eastern Bus Station route will increase from 60 trips to 80 trips compared to normal days; fixed passenger routes are expected to increase by about 5 trips each. Important routes are expected to increase compared to normal days such as to Can Tho, Dong Thap, Soc Trang , Ca Mau, Vinh Thuan...

Passenger transport units said they will proactively increase trips depending on people's travel needs during the holidays, proactively preparing spare vehicles to ensure that passengers are not congested at stations due to lack of vehicles. In addition to the increased demand for travel on fixed routes, it is forecasted that people's travel needs by bus will increase compared to normal days. Currently, the Public Passenger Transport Management and Operation Center has coordinated with units in charge of bus routes to develop service plans, and at the same time, coordinated with functional agencies to operate during peak days and hours with a large number of passengers, ensuring that passengers are not congested at stations and on routes...

Mr. Doan Trong Tuan, Deputy Director of Phuong Trinh Joint Stock Company, said that on the occasion of April 30 and May 1 this year, the company has proactively increased trips, but has not increased ticket prices on all routes. Meanwhile, Mr. Nguyen Trung Doan, Director of Phuc Gia Khang Company Limited, said that the bus route from Thu Dau Mot City to Dong Xoai City ( Binh Phuoc ) has not increased ticket prices. In addition to the number of trips requested for adjustment, the units have arranged additional backup vehicles to be ready to serve the travel needs of people throughout the holiday.

Mr. Nguyen Chi Hieu added that at inland waterway passenger terminals, the Department of Construction requires units to strictly comply with the provisions of the law on inland waterway passenger transport business; review and check the safety conditions of the terminals and vehicles; fully equip life buoys and buoyancy devices; require passengers to wear life jackets before the vehicle leaves the terminal. The Department of Construction assigned the traffic inspection force to preside over and coordinate with functional forces to regularly patrol, inspect and control the operations of bus stations, passenger transport enterprises and cross-river passenger terminals during the holidays. In addition, the Department of Construction requested units to strictly handle cases of vehicles running in circles, running on the wrong route, picking up and dropping off passengers at the wrong place, collecting money in violation of regulations, promptly taking measures to prevent and combat related incidents during the time of serving passengers traveling during the holidays.
