The song "Praise to President Ho" by musician Luu Huu Phuoc (composed in 1947) is probably one of the first songs written about Uncle Ho. For nearly 80 years, the melody and lyrics of this immortal song have become very close and familiar to the Vietnamese people because of its clear, resonant sound containing sacredness and pride: "The golden star flutters with a bright pink light/ All of Vietnam welcomes the new day/ Ho Chi Minh leads all our people/ Firmly fight for our lives/ Long live Ho Chi Minh/ Liberate the people/ Build the country of Vietnam/ His voice earnestly calls out to all directions/ The flag rises, the enemy falls.../ Long live Ho Chi Minh/ Show the way for the people to the day of glorious victory"... Also at the time when our people first gained power and embarked on the long and arduous resistance war against the French, the two songs "Grateful to Uncle Ho" (musician Luu Bach Thu) and "Praise for President Ho" (musician Van Cao) achieved great success, becoming works that "go with the years". The highlight of these two songs is the passionate, emotional melody, full of folk music and the very simple and familiar lyrics: "Oh, people of the South, we are forever grateful to Uncle Ho/ With all our hearts for the people, he fought tirelessly"; "He returned to bring a happy day/ The autumn sun shines on Ba Dinh/ With his voice still as gentle as the voice of the earth and sky...". Contributing to the first musical compositions about President Ho during this period was the son of Ha Nam - musician Phong Nha with two works praising Uncle Ho written for children. Musician Phong Nha was also the first person to put the legendary name "Uncle Ho" into musical works through the songs: "Nhanh buoc nhanh nhi dong", "Ai yeu Bac Ho Chi Minh thay thien nien nhi dong" and later the song "Cung nhau ta di len" (chosen as the Ho Chi Minh Young Pioneers' Team Song).
During the years when the country was temporarily divided, deeply feeling the burning desire for North-South reunification as well as Uncle Ho's sacred and passionate feelings for the people of the South, the musical compositions written about him during this period were full of melodies expressing the steadfast loyalty and strong will of all our people and army, wholeheartedly willing to follow the path that Uncle Ho chose. " Ho Chi Minh is the most beautiful name" (Tran Kiet Tuong); "Hoa Sen Thap Muoi" (Truong Quang Luc); "He lives forever in the heart of the South" (Nguyen Dong Nai); "Co gai PaKo" (Huy Thuc); "Tay Nguyen welcomes Uncle Ho's poems" (Doan Nho); "Songs dedicated to Uncle Ho" (Trong Loan); "The South will forever remember his grace" (Luu Cau); "Each line of Uncle Ho's letter shines with faith" (Thuan Yen); "Singing in the Pac Bo forest" (Nguyen Tai Tue) ... can be considered the heart-felt songs containing those noble and extremely sacred feelings.
In 1969, Uncle Ho bid us farewell and entered the " world of the virtuous", hundreds of literary and artistic works were almost simultaneously born praising Uncle Ho's great merits, expressing his infinite regret for Uncle Ho and also expressing the strong belief of the entire people determined to rush to the battlefield to liberate the South and unify the country as he always expected. In the field of music, the outstanding songs about Uncle Ho during this period include: "You are the belief in certain victory" (Chu Minh); "Looking at the tree, I remember you" (Do Nhuan); "Uncle Ho's love brightens our lives" (Luu Huu Phuoc); "Uncle Ho's sandals" (Van An); "Singing about you" (Doan Bong)... Notably, during this period, two musicians from Ha Nam also had very famous compositions about Uncle Ho, affirming the immortality of Uncle Ho's image in the belief, will and feelings of every Vietnamese person: "Uncle Ho lives forever" (Phong Nha); “Uncle is marching with us” (Huy Thuc); “Truong Son night remembering Uncle” (Tran Chung, poem by Nguyen Trung Thu);...
On April 30, 1975, with the resounding victory of the historic Ho Chi Minh Campaign, the great resistance war against the US to save the country was completely victorious, the South was cleared of enemies, the country was reunited as beloved Uncle Ho had wished. Blending in with the joy of victory that simultaneously exploded in every part of the homeland as well as in the minds of every Vietnamese person, the image of Uncle appeared sacredly in the tones of triumphant songs.
