On the afternoon of August 2, at the headquarters of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF), the opening ceremony of the training program for referee supervisors and referees of national professional football tournaments (NFP) for the 2025/26 season took place.
Mr. Nguyen Van Phu - General Secretary of VFF, Head of the training course's Organizing Committee, said that refereeing plays a key role in the overall development and success of professional football. Therefore, immediately after the 2024/25 season ended, the VFF management board and VPF Company urgently deployed preparations for the new season with many important items, including the supervisory and referee training program.

Notably, according to Mr. Dang Thanh Ha - Head of the VFF Referee Board, this year's training program has been adjusted in terms of organization. Instead of being divided into two sessions according to the North - South regions as in previous years, the first training session focuses on referees and supervisors assigned to work in the V-League and VAR refereeing, in the context that VAR technology will continue to be expanded in the new season. The second training session will be for the force participating in the First Division and National Cup.
Within the framework of the opening ceremony, VFF and VPF held a ceremony to pay tribute and say goodbye to 5 referees and assistant referees who retired according to FIFA's age regulations, including: National Championship referee Nguyen Manh Hai, National Championship assistant referee Truong Duc Chien, Hoang Thanh Binh, Ngo Quoc Toan and Tran Van Hai. Of which, assistants Truong Duc Chien and Tran Van Hai will continue to work until the end of the 2025/26 season.
The 2025/26 season referee and supervisor training program will take place from August 2 to August 7. The training content focuses on updating the Laws of the Game, new FIFA guidelines, technical situation analysis, referee team coordination and VAR operations... to improve the awareness, skills and decision-making ability of referees in the modern football environment.
As planned, tomorrow morning (August 3), the referees will undergo a physical fitness test - a mandatory condition to be assigned to work in the new season.
