For most consumers, the ability to take great photos is a key factor when choosing a smartphone, and that's where the iPhone comes in. Apple has been improving the iPhone camera for years, and the latest iPhone 16 Pro introduces impressive features like a 48MP Fusion camera and easy-to-use camera controls.

A small flower icon appears to indicate that macro mode is in use.

One of the notable features is macro mode, which has been around since the iPhone 13 Pro and 13 Pro Max launched in 2021. This mode allows users to take high-definition close-up photos, from plants to insects, using only the ultra-wide camera. When the camera switches to macro mode, users will see a small flower icon on the screen.

How to use macro mode on iPhone

To activate macro mode, users just need to get within 2cm of the subject they want to shoot and the camera will automatically switch to this mode. If they want to turn off macro mode and return to the wide-angle lens, users just need to tap the flower icon. When macro mode is turned off, the icon will turn gray and have a diagonal line. If the image becomes blurry due to being too close, just step back a little.

Alternatively, iPhone users can also disable macro mode through the camera app settings. To do this, go to Settings > Camera and toggle off the Macro control. If you want to keep your settings between photo sessions, go to Settings > Camera > Preserve Settings , which will allow the iPhone to remember your settings for the next time you use it.

With these features, iPhone continues to affirm its position in the field of mobile photography, bringing users a better and easier experience than ever.
