The simple reason is that the product is "branded" by Tuan Hung - a male singer with a deep, strange voice, although not too outstanding but always a rarity in showbiz. The songs he recently released such as Hold My Hand, Double Love ... also quickly became "hits".

Making a historical MV for the first time, and with his wife's support, Tuan Hung did not hesitate to spend money. At the launch ceremony, the male singer said that the cost for the product was up to several billion VND. Together with musician Phuc Bo, he nurtured the project for 3 years and 5 months to wait for the most suitable time, not afraid to travel from Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City to hold a press conference. The male singer confided that he wanted to share his experiences and achievements with young people.

However, the journey of the MV Quả Táo Vàng was not as beautiful as its owner had hoped. Immediately after its release, the product's images flooded forums, but were accompanied by negative and critical comments. Many fans flooded Tuấn Hưng's personal page to say that they had idolized him for a long time, but were disappointed with the new song. Many actions and gestures of Tuấn Hưng and Thu Hương (his wife) in the MV were also dissected and analyzed.

Just a few days after the release of Golden Apple , Tuan Hung announced the removal of the billion-dollar MV: "I feel like I will no longer use the song Golden Apple . I choose peace and accept everyone's comments. Because I don't want things to continue to cause controversy and tension." When Dan Viet reporter contacted singer Tuan Hung's representative, he said the singer did not want to share anything more.

Why did Tuan Hung's new MV have a sad ending?

Sharing with PV Dan Viet , director Tuan Nguyen (who has produced many programs and music videos) commented that the MV Qua Tao Vang has an image quality that is not commensurate with the billion-dollar cost: "The idea of Qua Tao Vang reminds the audience of Greek myths, but singer Tuan Hung's crew chose to express it in ancient Chinese style, creating a feeling of incompatibility.

Tuan Hung's costumes are disappointing when the hair is unrelated to the clothes, the armor is too big while the hands are too small. The layout of the MV is loose, lacking highlights. Another big minus point is that the entire MV is covered with a blurry effect, making the film unclear, causing discomfort to the viewer. The acting of Tuan Hung and his wife in this MV is quite dramatic and superficial, lacking a sense of seriousness". Tuan Nguyen also compared it to Nguyen Tran Trung Quan's previous historical MVs: "Clearly, under Dennis Dang's hands, the story is much more dramatic and logical".

Meanwhile, a female singer who asked to remain anonymous commented that the music of the MV Golden Apple is bland, lacking creativity, and has a strong "fast-food" feel.

"In fact, there are quite a few songs like this on the market, but most of them appear with young artists. As a veteran in the profession, Tuan Hung's choice surprised me quite a bit. However, I think he is very brave to dare to remove the music product he has put so much effort into. Not many artists dare to do that."

The lyrics of the song Golden Apple also have many places that are considered difficult to understand and meaningless... for example: "A thousand stars up high I pick black paint, calling for the morning to lift the curtain high/ Because I will lift this earth up for you to take back the golden apple". Many listeners said they did not understand the message Tuan Hung wanted to convey through the song.

The failed experiment

Tuan Hung is a person who is open to learning. Previously, he admitted many times that his voice is not good, because he is lucky to have the position he has now. The male singer was also willing to return the fee when his health was not guaranteed, leading to errors in the performance. This time, the singer born in 1978 acted quickly and decisively, despite losing a considerable amount of money.

In fact, the MV at least satisfies Tuan Hung's dream of transforming into a hero who knows how to "practice martial arts", as he confided. The Golden Apple also   shows the male singer's ambition to renew his style, although perhaps he was wrong to put his trust in an unsuitable team. This is not the first time Tuan Hung has encountered scandal, so he appears undaunted.

"I change, I experiment and people will praise, criticize, and ridicule me for wearing ancient martial arts costumes and for the lyrics being difficult to understand. I accept it because I am still on the path of perseverance in this comeback. Certainly, my energy is not only like that," Tuan Hung shared.

Tuan Hung’s failure with Golden Apple once again shows the challenges for veteran artists when releasing new products. Because when standing at a high enough position, the public’s expectations for them are also stricter and heavier. Tuan Hung is not the first person to suffer this judgment.
