[Video] National Assembly discusses Artificial Intelligence Law project: Flexible, adaptable to technology

On the morning of November 21, the National Assembly listened to the presentation of the Proposal and Verification Report on the draft Law on Artificial Intelligence, under the direction of Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Le Minh Hoan.

Minister of Science and Technology Nguyen Manh Hung emphasized that the draft law is built in a framework, flexible and adaptable to the rapid development of technology, aiming to balance management and promote research, development, deployment and application of AI in Vietnam.

The bill puts people at the center, with the principles of AI serving people, transparency, responsibility and safety. The law stipulates the management of AI systems according to the level of risk, encourages domestic AI development and technological autonomy, and ensures national digital sovereignty .

The Committee on Science , Technology and Environment suggested that there should be a balance between management and promotion, and additional regulations on the national AI database, legal responsibilities, ethical principles, transparency in labeling AI products, and prohibited acts. The bill also proposes measures to respond to the social, employment, and human rights impacts of AI, creating a comprehensive and synchronous legal corridor to promote innovation and sustainable development.
