Stating that the two main areas of cooperation between Vietnam and Bangladesh are politics-diplomacy and trade, the Vice President affirmed that the two countries always have high political trust and have close exchanges and cooperation at international forums, especially at the United Nations.

Emphasizing the huge potential in trade between the two countries, the Vice President said that Bangladesh is currently Vietnam's second largest trading partner in South Asia. Two-way trade has increased four times in 10 years, from 350 million USD (in 2012) to approximately 1.5 billion USD in 2022, exceeding the target set in 2017 and aiming for 2 billion USD.

Along with trade cooperation, the Vice President also hopes that agencies and partners of the two countries will continue to promote cooperation in human resource development and labor market, which are the strengths of the two countries, to improve the qualifications and income of the people and workers of the two countries.

In agricultural cooperation, Vietnam and Bangladesh signed a Memorandum of Understanding on fisheries and livestock cooperation for the 2018-2022 period; and extended the Memorandum of Understanding on rice trade for another 5 years (from 2022-2027). This is a condition to ensure food security for the two countries, promote consumption and increase the value of rice grains of the two countries.

Wishing that the two countries continue to strengthen cultural cooperation and promote people-to-people exchange, the Vice President also wished that Ms. Samina Naz in her new position will preserve good feelings for the country and people of Vietnam and make contributions to the traditional friendship and cooperation between the two countries.

Thanking the Vice President for taking the time to meet her, Ms. Samina Naz reviewed the outstanding results of the official visit to Bangladesh by National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue at the invitation of National Assembly Chairwoman Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury in late September. The visit contributed to promoting the multifaceted cooperation between Vietnam and Bangladesh, bringing the bilateral relationship to a new stage of development.

Appreciating Vietnam's strong development, Ms. Samina Naz said that with the characteristics of both being emerging economies with fast and steady growth rates, large populations, and abundant labor forces, Vietnam and Bangladesh still have a lot of room for cooperation in the fields of trade and investment.

The two sides need to continue to promote cooperation and share experiences in areas where both countries have strengths such as agriculture, garment, etc.; have a closer cooperation mechanism, especially the mechanism for human resource development, etc.
