The Government has decided to increase the temporary stay period to 45 days for citizens of 13 countries; along with that, it will issue electronic visas to citizens of all countries and territories entering Vietnam.
The Government has just issued a revised Resolution on visa exemption for citizens of some countries.
Specifically, Vietnam exempts visas for citizens of the following countries: Germany, France, Italy, Spain, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Russia, Japan, South Korea, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Belarus with a temporary stay of 45 days from the date of entry, regardless of passport type or purpose of entry, on the basis of meeting all entry conditions as prescribed by Vietnamese law.
Thus, compared to Resolution No. 32 of 2022 of the Government, the temporary residence period for citizens of the above countries will be increased from 15 days to 45 days.

Previously, the National Assembly passed the Law amending and supplementing a number of articles of the Law on Exit and Entry of Vietnamese Citizens and the Law on Entry, Exit, Transit and Residence of Foreigners in Vietnam.
The temporary residence period for citizens of countries unilaterally exempted from visas by Vietnam is extended to 45 days, an increase of 30 days compared to the period prescribed in the 2014 Law on Entry, Exit, Transit and Residence of Foreigners in Vietnam.
Issue electronic visas to citizens of all countries and territories
The Government has just issued Resolution 127 on the application of electronic visas for citizens of countries and territories; allowing foreigners to enter and exit the country with electronic visas.

The Government assigned the Prime Minister to direct relevant agencies to take necessary measures to ensure sovereignty, national security, and social order and safety during the implementation of the resolution.
Currently, e-visas are issued by the Immigration Department to foreigners through the electronic transaction system and are valid for one time. Before the above resolution, Vietnam issued e-visas to citizens of 80 countries.
