One of the core tasks of the Association is to always pay attention to information and propaganda work to help the people of the two countries and international friends clearly understand Vietnam's ideology of peace and friendship, condemn the crimes of the Pol Pot - Ieng Sary group against the Cambodian people and the Vietnamese people; correctly perceive the meaning and value of the victory on January 7, 1979, a historical milestone in Vietnam - Cambodia relations, refute distorted arguments, and protect Vietnam's righteous image in helping Cambodia.
From the 1980s to the early 2000s, the Association's activities focused on strengthening the Vietnam-Cambodia neighborly relationship through cultural, educational and economic cooperation programs.
In response to the need to preserve and further develop the friendly relations between the two countries under the motto "Good neighbors, traditional friendship, comprehensive cooperation, long-term sustainability", the Vietnam - Cambodia Friendship Association has promoted people-to-people exchanges and development cooperation, actively organized meetings, cultural exchanges, seminars and talks to enhance understanding and close ties between the people of the two countries.
Since 2012, the Association has initiated and strived to spread the "Nurturing Friendship" Program, connecting the warm and close feelings between generations of former Vietnamese experts and former volunteer soldiers with many generations of Cambodian students studying in Vietnam through the form of sponsoring students studying in Vietnam, exchanging stories about the traditional solidarity and friendship between the people of the two countries, visiting historical sites and socio-economic facilities.
In addition, the Association always pays attention and gradually gathers and develops members who are Vietnamese enterprises investing in Cambodia to join hands in contributing to the social security work of people on both sides of the border, and proposes to the Association to pay attention to creating conditions for overseas Vietnamese to stabilize their lives in Cambodia.
Recognizing and appreciating the contributions of the Association at all levels over the past 50 years, the Party, State of Vietnam and the King and Government of the Kingdom of Cambodia have presented noble awards to the Association and its provinces and cities.
