The conference is not only a forum for professional exchange, but also plays an important role in promoting Vietnam's deeper participation in the global value chain, affirming its position on the world technology map, attracting foreign investment and promoting support for domestic business development. At the same time, the conference will create a foundation for the development and application of advanced technologies, contributing to promoting sustainable economic growth.
Speaking at the press conference, Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Duc Tam informed that the Politburo has issued Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW on breakthroughs in science, technology, innovation and national digital transformation. To implement Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW, the Government issued Resolution No. 03/NQ-CP dated January 9, 2025, approving the Action Program with 41 targets and 140 tasks to concretize the Party's policy.
At the same time, at the Conference on Science and Technology Development, Innovation, Digital Transformation and High-Quality Human Resources to Promote Economic Growth on February 11, 2025, the Prime Minister continued to emphasize that this is not only an inevitable trend but also an important driving force for national development, in which people and businesses play a central role.
“Vietnam is at a very important time, preparing to enter a new era - the era of national growth as affirmed by General Secretary To Lam. Vietnam focuses on promoting digital transformation, green transformation and developing science and technology, innovation to create breakthroughs in productivity, quality and increase the competitiveness of the economy, in which the semiconductor industry and artificial intelligence are identified as playing a key role,” Deputy Minister Nguyen Duc Tam emphasized.
According to the Deputy Minister, Vietnam has gathered the conditions to be ready to welcome and cooperate with partners around the world in the field of semiconductors and AI, such as: Having a stable political system and high political determination in promoting innovation and high-tech industries. With a population of more than 100 million people, in the golden population period, having a young generation full of enthusiasm and the ability to access science and technology and highly appreciated STEM fields. Currently, Vietnam has formed a large-scale semiconductor and AI ecosystem with the participation of many of the world's leading technology partners.
In 2024, Vietnam has issued many important mechanisms and policies to develop the semiconductor industry, attract investment, promote the comprehensive development of the innovation ecosystem, create an environment to promote research and development, and apply science and technology, such as the Human Resource Development Program and the Vietnam Semiconductor Industry Development Strategy, and establish an Investment Support Fund for high-tech industries including AI and semiconductors.
However, Vietnam also faces the problem of sustainable development and improving its competitiveness with other countries in the region and the world. To turn challenges into motivation, Vietnam is making efforts to improve its position in the AI and semiconductor industries. The government is focusing on investing in infrastructure development, human resources, and attracting foreign investment.
NIC Director Vu Quoc Huy informed about the International Conference on "Artificial Intelligence and Semiconductors 2025" (AISC 2025) with the theme "Building the Future: Connecting AI". (Source: NIC) |
Mr. Vu Quoc Huy, Director of NIC, said that with the goal of taking advantage of the “golden opportunity” to accelerate the development of the domestic AI and semiconductor fields, as well as replicating the successful cooperation model with NVIDIA Corporation in establishing an AI research and development center in Vietnam, NIC has been implementing activities to promote international cooperation in developing and applying technology to form an innovation ecosystem in key areas such as AI and semiconductors. AISC is one of the activities that NIC co-organized to realize this goal.
AISC 2025 marks a significant turning point in the development of AI and semiconductor technology, said Dr. Christopher Nguyen, founder of Aitomatic, a co-organizer of AISC 2025. The event will bring together the world's leading innovators to showcase real breakthroughs at the intersection of the industry.
In addition to the main event series, there is also expected to be a ceremony to announce Vietnamese organizations officially joining the AI Alliance - a global alliance founded by IBM, Aitomatic Meta, AMD, Intel and leading academies, currently gathering more than 140 members from 25 countries, with the mission of promoting open innovation in AI development.
According to Bloomberg Intelligence, the global semiconductor market will reach $500 billion by the end of 2024, with AI driving the digital economy. The breakthrough of DeepSeek-R1, an open-source AI model that achieves comparable performance with only one-third of the computing power of leading models, has created a wave of transformation in the $1.2 trillion market and fueled the urgent need for efficient computing solutions. A recent McKinsey report also found that integrating AI into chip design and manufacturing is attracting huge investments, reshaping entire industries by improving efficiency and creating new opportunities for emerging technology hubs around the world. |
