During the visit, on the morning of September 23, Professor, Dr. Nguyen Xuan Thang and the delegation met with leaders, staff of the Embassy and representative agencies of Vietnam in Korea. At the meeting, Professor, Dr. Nguyen Xuan Thang informed about the main features of the socio-economic development situation in the country; highly appreciated the efforts of the Embassy staff in promoting the Vietnam - Korea strategic partnership; encouraged the staff of the representative agencies to strive to fulfill their assigned tasks; hoped that the diplomatic representative agencies would continue to promote their important role as a bridge between the two countries as well as the two peoples of Vietnam and Korea.
Professor, Dr. Nguyen Xuan Thang said that this visit to Korea took place in the context that Vietnam had just solemnly organized the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day on September 2, the founding of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, now the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2025) and the National Conference to disseminate and implement four important resolutions of the Politburo , including Resolution No. 59-NQ/TW of the Politburo on international integration in the new situation; Resolution No. 70-NQ/TW of the Politburo on ensuring national energy security until 2030, with a vision to 2045; Resolution No. 71-NQ/TW of the Politburo on breakthroughs in education and training development; Resolution No. 72-NQ/TW of the Politburo on a number of breakthrough solutions to strengthen the protection, care and improvement of people's health.
Sharing information about the activities within the framework of the visit, Professor, Dr. Nguyen Xuan Thang hopes that after this visit to Korea, many areas of cooperation between the two countries, notably science, high technology and education and training, will be further promoted, creating momentum for the Vietnam - Korea relationship, while also creating favorable conditions for the Vietnamese community in Korea. Professor, Dr. Nguyen Xuan Thang hopes that the Embassy and the business community, students, and the Vietnamese community in Korea will continue to thoroughly grasp and deeply understand the Vietnam - Korea Strategic Partnership. This is a key factor to maintain and continue to develop the good relationship between the two countries.
At the meeting, Vietnamese Ambassador to Korea Vu Ho reported to Professor, Dr. Nguyen Xuan Thang and the delegation on the activities of the Embassy and the Vietnamese community in Korea. Ambassador Vu Ho said that trade and investment are a bright spot in the Vietnam - Korea relationship. The Embassy has established close relationships with Vietnamese and Korean businesses; accompanied and implemented the policy of putting people and businesses at the center.
Along with implementing economic diplomacy, the Vietnamese Embassy in Korea has actively promoted cultural diplomacy and foreign information so that the Korean Government and people can better understand the good feelings between the two countries, Vietnam's innovation process, and support Vietnam's viewpoints and stances on regional and international issues.
The Vietnamese community in Korea is one of the largest communities in the world, with a close-knit relationship, so the Vietnamese Embassy in Korea always plays its role as a core representative agency, becoming a reliable bridge between the two countries, closely following the locality and making recommendations to the Party and State on policies and strategies that contribute to further strengthening the solidarity and close relationship between Vietnam and Korea; at the same time, always supporting and helping the Vietnamese community in the host country, performing consular work, protecting citizens, etc., performing well the function of a gathering agency, forming a united bloc towards the Fatherland.
On the same day, Professor, Dr. Nguyen Xuan Thang and the delegation visited and worked with Director of the Korean Diplomatic Academy (KNDA) Park Cheol Hee, visited and worked with Director of the Korean Civil Service Training Institute (NHI), worked with leaders of Samsung Group and visited the High Technology Center of this group, and attended the 10th Anniversary of the VOSP Program.
At the working session with Mr. Park Cheol Hee, Director of KNDA - the leading research and policy consultancy agency on international relations of Korea and also a traditional partner of many Vietnamese agencies, including the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics and the Diplomatic Academy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam, the two sides highly appreciated the unprecedented high political trust in the relationship between the two countries, with General Secretary To Lam paying a state visit to Korea right after President Lee Jae Myung took office and the new Korean government was established, and also being the first world leader to whom President Lee Jae Myung sent an invitation and warmly and respectfully welcomed him.
At the talks, the two sides agreed to continue effectively and substantially implementing the Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation (MOU), including organizing a high-level Vietnam-Korea forum and conducting joint research on issues related to strategic security, traditional and non-traditional security, peace, cooperation and development in the region and the world in the current context.
Receiving and working with Chairman Lim Chae Won and the Board of Directors of the Korea Human Resources Development Institute (NHI), Professor, Dr. Nguyen Xuan Thang highly appreciated the strategic partnership in training and fostering Vietnamese mid-level officials between the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics and NHI over the past 15 years, through the Cooperation Program with KOICA, including the practical survey research program for the Knowledge Update Training Classes for Central Planning Officials, Course XIV, held in Korea. Mr. Lim Chae Won expressed his desire to continue cooperation in training and fostering officials, especially mid-level and senior officials for Vietnam in association with the operation of two-level local governments, digital transformation, green transformation, green growth and sustainable development in Vietnam today.
Working with the senior management of Samsung Group, visiting and exchanging with experts at the Samsung Data System Center (SDS) - a unit under the world-leading Samsung Group ecosystem specializing in computing technology, data and artificial intelligence (AI) development, established in 1985 and currently having branches in more than 40 countries with more than 25,000 officers, engineers and employees, including the SDS Center in Vietnam with more than 2,000 engineers and officers, Professor, Dr. Nguyen Xuan Thang highly appreciated the technological achievements that "break all limits", including AI technology, and hoped that SDS would continue to develop strongly and closely connect with partners in the AI ecosystem in Vietnam.
Attending and speaking at the 10th Anniversary of the Global Samsung Learning Program for Vietnamese Senior Officials (VOSP) - the result of the cooperation between the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics and Samsung Vietnam, Professor, Dr. Nguyen Xuan Thang affirmed that with the philosophy of people being number 1 and valuing talents along with the Samsung Way, the VOSP program contributes to enhancing understanding, sharing knowledge and experience in global leadership and management, continuously innovating, creating and breaking all technological limits, connecting and tightening the cooperative relationship between agencies, localities and businesses of the two countries, while contributing to increasingly deepening the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between Vietnam and Korea.
The working trip ended successfully, continuing to deepen the comprehensive strategic partnership between the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics and Korean partners in particular, contributing to further tightening the comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and Korea in the new era of development on the pillars, especially in science and high technology development, innovation, education and training of high-level human resources and policy consulting research.
