At the regular press conference on September 14, answering reporters' questions about cooperation between Vietnam and China within the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) in recent times, on the occasion of Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Chi Dung attending the 8th Belt and Road Summit in Hong Kong (China), Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Pham Thu Hang stated that Vietnam welcomes initiatives to promote regional connectivity and cooperation, on the basis of ensuring the principles of equality, cooperation, mutual benefit, mutual respect, in accordance with international law and the United Nations Charter, aiming to contribute to the common development and prosperity of all countries.

According to the Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, over the past time, the Vietnam-China friendship has maintained a growing trend, including cooperation frameworks connecting Vietnam-China in general and connecting within the Belt and Road framework in particular. The two governments have signed a memorandum of understanding on jointly promoting the connection between Vietnam's "Two Corridors, One Belt" framework and the Belt and Road Initiative.

For many years, Vietnamese and Chinese enterprises have actively cooperated in transporting goods on the corridor connecting Chongqing city of China, passing through Vietnam and several ASEAN countries, and from Vietnam to Central Asia and Europe.

"We hope that the Belt and Road Initiative will continue to contribute to promoting economic integration and regional connectivity, supporting countries in building infrastructure and expanding markets, narrowing the development gap between countries, and bringing new opportunities to businesses and people in the region as well as around the world," said the Foreign Ministry Spokesperson.

Also according to Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Pham Thu Hang, in the most recent meeting between Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Chinese Premier Li Qiang, the two sides agreed to continue promoting strategic connectivity, cooperating to build a high-quality Belt and Road, enhancing road connectivity, building a multimodal, highly efficient and sustainable logistics system, bringing new opportunities for businesses and people of the two countries, as well as actively contributing to peace, stability and prosperous development in the region, as well as around the world.
