Citing data from the Australian Bureau of Statistics, Sky News said the number of visitors from Australia to Vietnam in the first quarter of 2025 increased by 54% compared to the same period in 2019.
Sky News reports that new data this year shows that demand for travel to Vietnam has far surpassed any other popular international destination for Australian tourists.
Ms. Nicole Newport, Regional Sales Director for Oceania at InsideAsia Tours, assessed that there was "clear evidence" that Vietnam was rapidly gaining popularity and was expected to record further increases in Australian tourists in the coming time.
“Demand for travel to Vietnam has remained strong this year and we do not see this growth slowing down,” said Ms. Newport.
“This destination is close to Australia and offers a wide range of experiences, from historic cities and bustling markets to majestic natural landscapes. The diversity of landscapes makes coming to Vietnam like visiting many countries in just one trip,” she said.
“More and more Australian tourists are looking for meaningful cultural adventures that go beyond the usual tourist routes,” the expert said.
In another development, travel company Klook also reported a surge of up to 250% in hotel bookings in Vietnam from March to June 2025, compared to the same period last year.
Figures from the General Statistics Office of Vietnam also show that Australian visitors were among the top 10 markets sending visitors in the first 6 months of the year. The number of Australian visitors to Vietnam in the first two quarters of the year reached 276,000, ranking 8th.
According to Sky News, the most searched destinations in Vietnam include Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi , Da Nang, Ha Long Bay and Hoi An.
