During the phone call, Minister Bui Thanh Son and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of New Zealand Winston Peters expressed satisfaction with the increasingly effective and extensive development of the strategic partnership between Vietnam and New Zealand in recent times.
The two sides agreed to strengthen coordination between the two Foreign Ministries to promote cooperation between the two countries, expand delegation exchanges and high-level contacts, effectively implement the Action Program to implement the Vietnam - New Zealand Strategic Partnership for the 2021-2024 period, and soon negotiate and sign the Action Program for the new period.

The two sides agreed to promote trade and investment cooperation and effectively promote the mechanism of the Economic and Trade Cooperation Committee, and promote people-to-people exchanges through cooperation in education, labor, tourism, etc. The two sides agreed to closely coordinate in preparation for the upcoming visit of the two countries' senior leaders, contributing to further developing bilateral relations in the new period.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister Winston Peters emphasized that Vietnam is an important partner of New Zealand in the region in both geopolitical and economic terms; the two countries share many common views and visions on regional and world issues. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister Winston Peters suggested that the two countries continue to study and expand cooperation in new areas such as climate change response, digital transformation, etc. commensurate with the level of bilateral relations.
The two sides agreed to continue to promote coordination and cooperation at multilateral forums, especially the United Nations, ASEAN and ASEAN-led mechanisms. Minister Bui Thanh Son congratulated New Zealand on its successful assumption of the role of CPTPP Chair 2023 and affirmed that Vietnam will actively promote substantive cooperation programs between ASEAN and New Zealand in its capacity as the coordinator of ASEAN-New Zealand relations.
On this occasion, Minister Bui Thanh Son invited Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Winston Peters to visit Vietnam soon.
