According to digital travel platform Agoda, Vietnam has officially entered the list of top 5 Asian destinations most searched by European tourists in the summer of 2025.

The list was compiled during the peak tourist season of July and August. Topping the chart is Thailand, followed by Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, and Vietnam, which is on the list for the first time, affirming its attractiveness on the Asian summer tourism map.

Agoda's "Summer Travel Trends from Europe to Asia" report is compiled based on accommodation search data in July and August 2025 - the peak tourist season in Europe.

France, the United Kingdom, Germany, Russia and Norway are the countries with the most visitors to Vietnam.

Of which, France, the UK, Germany, Russia and Norway are the 5 countries with the most searches for travel to Vietnam this summer.

Notably, Russia and Norway have replaced the Netherlands and Spain in the rankings, thanks to direct flights between Russia and Vietnam, along with Vietnam's recent visa exemption policy for citizens of these two countries.

Besides familiar markets, Vietnam also receives attention from emerging European countries.

Searches in Hungary increased significantly by 320% year-on-year, followed by Türkiye (288%) and Poland (153%).

These figures show that Vietnam is increasingly becoming an attractive destination across the continent.

Da Nang, Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi are the 3 most favorite cities for European tourists.

In Vietnam, the three most popular destinations for European tourists this summer are Da Nang, Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi. The combination of fresh sea air and vibrant urban life has helped these cities score points in the eyes of European tourists. These destinations will continue to attract European visitors who love to explore natural landscapes, unique cultural heritages and the vibrant city life of Vietnam.

The Asia region saw Malaysia as the fastest growing destination, with searches up 20% year-on-year. China also saw a 14% increase, thanks to visa-free travel for some European countries, while Sri Lanka saw a 13% increase.

Mr. Vu Ngoc Lam, Country Director of Agoda Vietnam, shared: “Vietnam's appearance in the ranking of top summer destinations in Asia loved by European tourists shows the strong appeal of Vietnam thanks to its natural landscape, cultural identity and increasingly convenient mobility.

In addition, the increasing number of European tourists traveling to Malaysia, China or Sri Lanka shows that they are interested in trips to learn about local culture, beautiful nature, and discover interesting hidden things at destinations that are not known to many people.

In terms of specific destinations, Bali (Indonesia) still holds the top position, followed by Bangkok and Koh Samui (Thailand).

Notably, Koh Samui surpassed Tokyo to enter the top 3 thanks to the attraction of the hit HBO TV series The White Lotus, which was filmed on this lovely island.
