At the conference organized by the International Air Transport Association (IATA), Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang highly appreciated the efforts of the Ministry of Transport , IATA, and Vietnam Airlines (the host airline of the conference) in coordinating to organize the first global aviation safety conference in Hanoi.
Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang emphasized that Vietnam considers ensuring aviation safety and security to be a particularly important task that needs to be carried out regularly and continuously, keeping up with the complex and rapid developments of the world situation.
The Vietnamese Government has focused on perfecting institutions, issuing many mechanisms and policies, creating a legal corridor and a favorable business environment for the safe and healthy development of the aviation industry.
To effectively exploit opportunities and overcome challenges, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang suggested that IATA and international partners continue to play an important role in establishing standards for operational safety; strengthen connections, share information and experience in ensuring aviation safety and security among member airlines and aviation organizations globally.
"Vietnam will make continuous efforts to build a strong and effective aviation safety and security system that is suitable to Vietnam's conditions and meets international standards and practices.
We are ready to exchange experiences and strengthen cooperation with bilateral and multilateral partners in ensuring international aviation safety and security.
At the same time, Vietnam hopes to continue receiving support and close and effective coordination from international partners and friends in this field, in order to contribute to bringing Vietnam closer to the world and the world closer to Vietnam in the most convenient and safe way," Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang affirmed.
The 2023 World Aviation Safety and Operations Conference in Hanoi took place from September 19 to 21 with the theme "Leaders in Action: Promoting Safer and More Efficient Operations" with the participation of more than 800 guests representing leaders of airlines and international organizations in the aviation sector around the world.
Mr. Willie Walsh - IATA Director General shared: "Safety is the top priority of the aviation industry and this was demonstrated by the Government leaders, management agencies and safety experts from about 100 airlines, aircraft manufacturers and stakeholders attending the event".
At the conference, Vietnam Airlines and IATA signed a charter on safety culture; at the same time, they built dialogue content with airline leaders, aviation authorities as well as leaders of state management agencies; discussed the topic of building an aviation safety culture...
Speaking at the conference, Minister of Transport Nguyen Van Thang assessed: "Vietnam's aviation industry has achieved positive results in the field of safety and operations, notably 25 consecutive years without commercial aviation accidents in the context of the aviation industry continuously growing by double digits for many years; achieving certification from the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and certification of aviation safety supervision capacity (CAT 1) by the US Federal Aviation Administration. All Vietnamese airlines have been assessed by IATA to be granted Operational Safety Certificates."
