Finnish Prime Minister Petteri Orpo warmly welcomed General Secretary To Lam and the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation to their official visit to Finland; Finland always considers Vietnam one of its leading partners in the Southeast Asia and Asia- Pacific regions; affirmed that General Secretary To Lam's visit is an important milestone to further strengthen the traditional friendship between the two countries.

Congratulating Vietnam on the achievements it has made in recent times under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam and General Secretary To Lam himself, Prime Minister Orpo emphasized that Finland always highly appreciates Vietnam's strong and comprehensive development in recent years; expressing his belief that Vietnam will continue to firmly step on the path of sustainable, independent development and comprehensive and extensive integration.

Welcoming and appreciating the two countries' upgrading of relations to a Strategic Partnership, Prime Minister Orpo affirmed that the Finnish Government will continue to support the promotion of bilateral relations, focusing on strengthening cooperation in the fields of politics - diplomacy, economics - trade - investment, science - technology.

General Secretary To Lam congratulated Finland on its outstanding achievements in socio-economic development, as well as its positive contributions to global peace and stability; and highly appreciated Prime Minister Orpo's important role in macro-management and administration.

General Secretary To Lam emphasized that the Party, State and people of Vietnam always appreciate and deeply remember the assistance and support of the Finnish people in the fields of water supply and drainage, hunger eradication and poverty reduction, climate change adaptation and forestry; and affirmed that Vietnam always attaches importance to the traditional friendship with Finland.

In the context of rapid international changes, Vietnam attaches special importance to the traditional friendship and is ready to cooperate closely with Finland to elevate the relationship on key pillars such as politics - diplomacy, defense - security, science - technology and digital transformation, education - training, environment and climate change response, culture and people-to-people exchange; affirming that Vietnam is ready to work with Finland to act as a bridge and promote cooperation between Vietnam - EU and Finland - ASEAN.

Expressing satisfaction with the bilateral cooperation in recent times and being pleased to see that the two countries have many similarities on international and regional issues of mutual concern, General Secretary To Lam and the Prime Minister of Finland agreed to strengthen cooperation to contribute to maintaining peace and stability in the region, ensuring security, safety, freedom of navigation and aviation, and peacefully resolving disputes in the Asia-Pacific region, including the East Sea, in accordance with international law, including the 1982 Convention on the Law of the Sea.
