Vietnam moves up in QS world university rankings

NDO - On December 10, QS Ranking Organization announced the results of QS World University Rankings: Sustainability 2025 for 1,751 higher education institutions worldwide.


In this ranking, Hanoi National University has made a strong improvement in position when it was ranked 325th in the world. Accordingly, Hanoi National University's ranking position increased by 456 places compared to its ranking in the top 781-790 in the 2024 QS ranking, 51st in Asia and number 1 in Vietnam.

The QS WUR Sustainability Rankings provide a comprehensive assessment of higher education institutions around the world on their commitment and impact on sustainable development through research, teaching and service to the community. The rankings show how well a university contributes to three key areas: Environmental Impact, Social Impact and Governance.

In the QS 2025 rankings, Vietnam National University, Hanoi increased its scores in all three criteria: Governance; Environmental Impact; Social Impact. Implementing a governance perspective with the goal of sustainable development, Vietnam National University, Hanoi reached 204th position in Governance criteria, which is also the highest ranked criterion of Vietnam National University, Hanoi, affirming transparency, ensuring ethics, responsibility, and efficiency in governance and organizational operations of Vietnam National University, Hanoi.

The contributions of Vietnam National University, Hanoi in building a more sustainable future environment and society have been clearly demonstrated through the increase in rankings in all criteria participating in this year's ranking, including: Environmental education; Environmental research; Environmental sustainability; Recruitment and output results; Equality; Health and well-being; Educational impact; Knowledge sharing and Good governance.

The success of Hanoi National University is a testament to its long-term strategy towards sustainable development. Accordingly, Hanoi National University has a strategy and solutions to invest heavily in sustainable research such as: Scientific projects on climate change, clean energy, biodiversity conservation have created positive impacts at both national and international levels.

In addition, VNU has established a research and education network with international partners, contributing to knowledge sharing and promoting global education. VNU's gender equality initiatives, supporting local communities and improving public health have contributed to improving the quality of life for society.

In the 2025 QS rankings, in addition to Hanoi National University, there are nine other Vietnamese universities ranked. Specifically, the Vietnamese universities in the rankings are: Duy Tan University (538th), Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics (653rd), Hanoi University of Science and Technology (702nd), Ho Chi Minh City National University (880th), Ton Duc Thang University (921-930), Can Tho University (1061-1080), Nguyen Tat Thanh University (1451-1500), Hue University (1501+) and Da Nang University (1501+).
