Vietnam hosts second qualifying round of Asian U23 Women's Championship

The second qualifying round will feature eight teams, divided into two groups. The teams will compete in a round robin, with the top two teams and the second-placed teams advancing to the finals, along with four previously-determined teams: host Uzbekistan U20 Women's, Japan U20 Women's, North Korea U20 Women's and South Korea U20 Women's.

Accordingly, the draw results put coach Akira Ijiri and his team in Group A with opponents U20 women Australia, U20 women Iran and U20 women Lebanon. Meanwhile, Group B includes 4 names: U20 women China, U20 women Myanmar, U20 women Nepal and U20 women Taipei China. According to the match schedule, the U20 women of Vietnam will meet U20 women Iran, U20 women Lebanon before facing U20 women Australia in the final round.

The second qualifying round of the 2024 AFC U20 Women's Championship is scheduled to be held from June 3 to 11. With the success in organizing the matches in the first qualifying round, Viet Tri Stadium ( Phu Tho ) will continue to be the venue for the matches of Group A.

Previously, assessing the opponents in the second qualifying round, head coach of the Vietnam U20 women's team Akira Ijiri said: "I think we have entered a group of very strong teams. To win, we must be determined. The coaching staff will plan to improve and build a solid defense, quickly transition and improve the ability to score goals, learning from the first qualifying round."
