The Minister of Parliamentary and Minority Affairs of the Republic of India and the Vietnam - India Friendship Association of Ho Chi Minh City recently had a meeting and offered flowers at the statue of Mahatma Gandhi - leader and national hero of India, located at Tao Dan Park (District 1, Ho Chi Minh City).
Mr. Kiren Rijiju - Minister of Parliamentary and Minority Affairs of the Republic of India, head of the delegation accompanying the Buddha's relics to the 2025 United Nations Day of Vesak in Vietnam - shared that this visit to Vietnam has special significance because this is the first time the Buddha's relics have been brought to be enshrined in many provinces and cities of Vietnam within the framework of the United Nations Day of Vesak held in Ho Chi Minh City.
Mr. Kiren Rijiju also expressed his respect to the Vietnam - India Friendship Association of Ho Chi Minh City, the Vietnamese people have special feelings for Leader Mahatma Gandhi and the people of India.
India's agreement to invite Buddha's relics from India to Vietnam is a testament to the special relationship between the two countries.
Strengthening the friendship between the two countries
Chairman of the Vietnam - India Friendship Association of Ho Chi Minh City Huynh Thanh Lap informed that in 2022 and 2023, the people of Vietnam and India will happily witness important friendship events, including the installation of a statue of President Ho Chi Minh in the center of the capital New Delhi and a statue of leader Mahatma Gandhi in the center of Ho Chi Minh City.

According to the organizers, the presence of statues of President Ho Chi Minh and Leader Mahatma Gandhi in New Delhi and Ho Chi Minh City not only honors the great heroes of the two countries but is also a symbol of national culture, a living proof of the good friendship between the two countries that was laid by President Ho Chi Minh and Indian Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru and has been diligently cultivated by generations of leaders and people of Vietnam and India.
The President of the Vietnam - India Friendship Association of Ho Chi Minh City believes that today's and future generations will continue to write the beautiful history of peace between Vietnam and India, supporting and helping each other in the process of building and developing the country.

On this occasion, the Chairman of the Vietnam - India Friendship Association of Ho Chi Minh City presented the Minister of Parliamentary and Minority Affairs of the Republic of India Kiren Rijiju and the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of India to Vietnam Sandeep Arya with a traditional scarf printed with the symbol of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day.
The Indian Ambassador to Vietnam also presented the leaders of the Vietnam - India Friendship Association in Ho Chi Minh City with a publication compiled in Vietnamese, India, the land of Buddha , introducing unique Buddhist architectural works and tourist attractions of India associated with Buddhist culture.
