Vietnam Airlines launches direct flight Hanoi-Bengaluru

Vietnam Airlines has officially launched a direct flight connecting Hanoi with Bengaluru, India's leading technology hub, with a frequency of four round trips per week.

Immediately after that, from May 7, the airline will use Airbus A321 aircraft to operate the Hanoi - Hyderabad (India) route with a frequency of 3 round trips per week.

Flight VN983, operated by Airbus A321 with more than 130 passengers, departed from Noi Bai International Airport at 7:00 p.m. on May 1 and landed at Bangalore International Airport at 10:00 p.m. (local time) the same day.

That same night, flight VN982 from Bengaluru with more than 160 passengers also departed at 11:30 p.m. and landed at Noi Bai airport at 5:25 a.m. on May 2, marking the establishment of a new direct flight route between the two cities.

India is currently one of the fastest growing aviation markets in the world, with a population of over 1.4 billion people and a constantly expanding middle class. The expansion of the flight network has affirmed the role of Vietnam Airlines in connecting Vietnam with the South Asian region. This is also a testament to the spirit of Taking Off Together with the Country that Vietnam Airlines has been pursuing for the past 30 years.

At Noi Bai airport, Vietnam Airlines held a ribbon-cutting ceremony to open the new route, presenting flowers to the flight crew and the first passengers of the Hanoi-Bengaluru flight. At the same time, the airline also coordinated with local partners to organize a solemn welcoming ceremony at Bangalore airport, presenting flowers and souvenirs to passengers on flight VN983.

Vietnam Airlines officially launched a direct flight connecting Hanoi with Bengaluru, India's leading technology hub.

With the launch of two new routes, Vietnam Airlines has increased its total number of destinations in India to four major cities including New Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru and Hyderabad, with six direct routes currently in operation.

This expanded flight network meets the diverse travel needs between the two countries, while contributing to promoting trade, tourism and bilateral cooperation.

Expanding the flight network to major technology hubs such as Bengaluru and Hyderabad not only meets the increasing travel demand, but also affirms Vietnam Airlines' role in connecting Vietnam with the South Asian region. Since launching flights to India, Vietnam Airlines has operated more than 3,200 flights, serving more than 511,700 passengers. In 2024 alone, Vietnam welcomed more than 500,000 visitors from India, making this South Asian country one of Vietnam’s 10 largest tourism markets. These figures show the strong growth potential of the Indian market, especially in the fields of tourism, trade and cultural exchange.

The first passengers of the Hanoi-Bengaluru direct flight received flowers from Vietnam Airlines.
