Vietnam Airlines opens direct flight Hanoi - Melbourne

The new route will create more convenient travel conditions for passengers who want to travel , visit relatives, work or study in Australia's second largest city.

Accordingly, flight VN779 will depart from Hanoi at 00:05 and land in Melbourne at 12:30; flight VN778 will depart from Melbourne at 15:00 and land in Hanoi at 21:35.

On the occasion of the opening of the new route, from now until December 31, 2023, the airline will launch incentives for customers buying tickets on the website, mobile application, ticket offices and official agents of the airline, with round-trip prices starting from only 645 USD (equivalent to 15,237,000 VND including taxes and fees).

In addition, Vietnam Airlines will change the itinerary for free for passengers who have purchased tickets before April 30, 2023 from Hanoi to Melbourne connecting via Ho Chi Minh City to direct flights from Hanoi to Melbourne. At the same time, from June 15, 2023 to July 14, 2023, Vietnam Airlines will also implement a program to give away 1 additional free baggage for passengers who purchase Economy Flex and Economy Standard tickets on the Hanoi - Melbourne route.

With the opening of the new Hanoi - Melbourne route, Vietnam Airlines affirms its position as the airline with the most direct flights and the highest frequency between Vietnam and Australia. Accordingly, the airline operates 4 direct flights from Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City to Sydney and Melbourne with a total frequency of up to 18 flights/week.

In 2019, Australia was Vietnam's 12th largest aviation market with a total capacity of nearly 900,000 passengers, of which Vietnam Airlines transported more than 400,000 passengers. In 2022, in the context that some regions in the world have not yet fully recovered, the number of passengers to and from Australia has risen to the 8th position among Vietnam's largest markets. With an impressive recovery rate, Australia is currently ranked 4th among Vietnam Airlines' most important markets. The airline is actively researching to increase frequency and open new routes to complete the flight route product between Vietnam and Australia in the near future.
