Lan Ha Bay from above

Việt NamViệt Nam07/07/2023

Mountains, water, clouds and fishing village in one of the most beautiful bays in the world , magical in the morning mist and at sunset.

Lan Ha Bay in the mist at nearly 6am. The bay is over 7,000 hectares wide, surrounding Cat Ba archipelago and adjacent to Ha Long Bay. The photo is part of the Lan Ha Bay Landscape photo series taken by Pham Huy Trung (HCMC), a photographer from Socom Media, during his trip to the city of red phoenix flowers in early June 2020.

The limestone islands are covered with green trees and vegetation floating in the mist and clouds. Lan Ha Bay has calm waters, about 400 large and small islands and is currently a member of the Association of the Most Beautiful Bays of the World (MBBW) Club.

One of the attractions in Lan Ha Bay is Cai Beo floating village, located in the middle of a limestone mountain valley. This is one of the largest fishing villages in the country, with 300 households making a living on “floating houses”, mainly farming and fishing.

At dawn, Cai Beo fishing village nestles among limestone mountains, creating a brilliant and harmonious picture between nature and people.

Visitors to Cai Beo experience the daily life of fishermen and have the opportunity to learn about the history of this fishing village.

According to research by the Vietnam Institute of Archaeology, Cai Beo is the most important archaeological site in the coastal and island areas of northeastern Vietnam. People used to live by fishing and collecting clams and oysters about 7,000 years ago.

After being included in the list of the most beautiful bays in the world by MBBW and announced on the Hai Phong City Electronic Information Portal in January 2020, Lan Ha Bay became more famous and an attractive resort for domestic and international tourists and artists.

Recently in May 2020, actor Leonardo DiCaprio, the main actor in the blockbuster Titanic , posted a 58-second video on Instagram, capturing the beautiful scenery of Lan Ha Bay from above and comparing it to “paradise”. In addition, Leonardo also noted that this famous bay is being threatened by plastic waste, unsustainable tourism activities and climate change. Therefore, visitors here need to join hands to protect and reduce the impact on the environment.

Lan Ha Bay is hazy at sunset, taken at 6:16 p.m. At this time, the sky is dyed red-orange by the last rays of sunlight and reflects on the water surface, bringing a different beauty.

A canoe glides past a cruise ship on Lan Ha Bay. Popular tourist activities in the bay include canoeing, kayaking, swimming and snorkeling in the calm waters of the bay.

From above, Lan Ha Bay appears filled with the beauty of green mountains, sea and consecutive limestone mountains, interwoven with mysterious caves.

On the Lan Ha Bay tourist route, the stops worth visiting are Luon Cave, Cai Beo fishing village, Viet Hai fishing village, Nam Cat Island, Monkey Island, Van Boi beach, Turtle Island and Chuong Island. When night falls, visitors can enjoy seafood, with famous dishes such as grilled sea cucumber, grilled geoduck, salt-fried crab or lobster poached in wine.
