Vinh Long launches health care program for people with disabilities

On the afternoon of April 16, the Department of Health coordinated with Davipharm Pharmaceutical Company, the Center for Healthcare Innovation Research (CHIR), and May Link Media Company to organize the launching ceremony of the program "Health care for people with disabilities in Vinh Long province". Attending the ceremony was Ms. Nguyen Thi Quyen Thanh - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial People's Committee.

According to the Department of Health, by the end of 2024, the province is managing 25,905 people with disabilities, of which over 1,700 are severely and extremely severely disabled. Most of them are still facing many difficulties in accessing health services, and many health insurance policies have not been effective.

The program "Health care for people with disabilities in Vinh Long province" will be implemented in 2025, divided into 3 phases with specific goals: Health screening for at least 21,000 people with disabilities in 8 districts, towns and cities; establishing personalized health records, supporting people to effectively use health insurance cards; implementing a home care model: nurses come to the home, doctors examine remotely via smart medical devices integrated with AI technology; ensuring 100% of people with disabilities have access to a comprehensive, humane and sustainable health care system.

Speaking at the launching ceremony, Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial People's Committee - Nguyen Thi Quyen Thanh noted that in order for health care activities for people with disabilities in the area to be implemented in a specific, synchronous and substantial manner, the health sector is requested to effectively implement the objectives of the plan: ensuring that 100% of people with disabilities have their health records established, are examined, screened, and have early intervention for dangerous diseases and long-term health management; deploying a home health care model; organizing training for 100% of grassroots health workers; promoting communication and raising public awareness.

On this occasion, Davipharm Pharmaceutical Company donated 8 sets of smart medical equipment to Vinh Long medical units.

In addition, Party committees at all levels, local authorities, socio- political organizations, associations, businesses, philanthropists and the community join hands, accompany and support, creating a widespread and sustainable social security network.
