And for over 20 years, when he started to turn to teaching, choosing Bach Khoa as his destination, he has strived to make that happen, becoming an example for generations of students, representing the Bach Khoa people who are always upright, responsible, creative and excellent.

Born and raised in a family with a tradition of learning, Associate Professor Huynh Quyet Thang had a special love for computer science since childhood. However, his fate with the teaching profession persisted. In 1998, after receiving a doctorate in computer science and information at the Varna Technical University, Republic of Bulgaria and working in a corporate environment with a very good income, he decided to change direction to the teaching profession as a lecturer at Hanoi University of Science and Technology. At that time, he had a desire to bring the knowledge he had learned abroad to write miracles of innovation and creativity with the dedicated teachers at the University of Science and Technology.

With in-depth research in the field of software engineering, Associate Professor Thang has applied the latest and most modern techniques to carry out digital transformation in his school and contribute to the country's digital transformation. For him, digital transformation does not simply stop at online teaching and learning but also relies on 4 fundamental technologies including Cloud Computing, Big Data, Artificial Intelligence and Internet of Things to restructure services and products, creating a breakthrough in the university education experience environment.

One of the typical products that represents the creativity of the leadership and lecturers of Hanoi University of Science and Technology is the virtual filtering software, supporting university admissions. By using the software to filter out candidates who have passed higher wishes, Hanoi University of Science and Technology has helped hundreds of universities in the North easily enroll, determine the benchmark scores, the number of students admitted accurately, saving time and costs. The research directions of Associate Professor Thang and lecturers in processing and analyzing big data in software technology have helped Hanoi University of Science and Technology become a leading school in scientific research, innovation and technology transfer.

From 2009 to present, in his position as manager, Associate Professor Huynh Quyet Thang has become an idol of many generations of students, always maintaining the rustic and sincere qualities of a Polytechnician and creating all resources for each teacher and each Polytechnic student to have the opportunity to demonstrate their abilities and creativity in many fields. In particular, during the time when the whole country was struggling to fight the COVID-19 epidemic, excellent teacher Huynh Quyet Thang, teachers and students of Hanoi University of Science and Technology promoted research, directed and created conditions for lecturers and students to successfully invent and manufacture many products such as disinfectant solutions, RT-Lamp coronavirus rapid test kits, mobile full-body disinfection chambers, autonomous infusion monitoring robots... These are practical actions, demonstrating responsibility to the community, aiming to join hands to repel the epidemic.

Spread creative ideas for the community

Currently, as the head of an educational institution with a training scale of thousands of students, having to worry about life, ensuring income for about 2,000 staff, lecturers, and workers, Associate Professor, Dr. Huynh Quyet Thang admits that there is a lot of pressure. In particular, after the process of university autonomy, Hanoi University of Science and Technology has taken a new step, becoming one of two public universities in the country with a revenue of over 1,000 billion VND, affirming its own brand. How to promote and develop further, to surpass the established peaks?

“There is no other way but to continue to innovate and in that journey, people are the subject, the driving force of development. I always wonder how to best promote the creativity of teachers. How to make students learn a profession they enjoy, promote their creativity. Students can participate in the process of innovation, start-up, thereby becoming more useful people for society” - Director of the University of Technology shared.

From those concerns, he and the school leaders connected with alumni and businesses to establish the Creative Startup Investment Fund - BK Fund, where students only need to have ideas, dare to think, dare to do, dare to start a business. Teachers and the school will provide maximum support, alumni and businesses will accompany to turn ideas into useful products and projects that can be applied in life.

Combining learning with practice, to improve the quality of human resources to meet the demands and requirements of the socio-economic development process... is also the direction that Associate Professor, Dr. Huynh Quyet Thang and the collective of lecturers and students of Hanoi University of Science and Technology are aiming for. Because according to his concept: "It would be a waste if during the 5 years of university, a student is particularly excellent, has many good ideas but those ideas only stop at an excellent graduation project, without spreading creative ideas to the community".
