Kevin Costner's wife, Christine Baumgartner, files for divorce after more than 18 years of marriage

In a statement to People , Kevin Costner's representative said: "It is sad that circumstances beyond his control have occurred, resulting in Costner entering into divorce proceedings."

"We ask that his privacy be respected. Christine and their children also need to be respected as they navigate this difficult time," the representative added.
