Bac Kan On the morning of July 14, Mr. Dinh Nhu Quy in Na Leng village, Van Lang commune, Na Ri district was traveling on the road when he was attacked by a white-cheeked black gibbon.
The langur then ran away into the forest. Mr. Quy (51 years old) was injured in the leg, had 6 stitches and had to get a rabies shot.
Mr. Ma Ngoc Quoc, Chairman of the People's Committee of Van Lang Commune, said the langur arrived in the commune about half a month ago. "This is the first time the white-cheeked black langur has appeared in the commune," he said.
To ensure the safety of the people, the Management Board of Kim Hy Nature Reserve coordinated with a number of functional units to chase the langur deep into the forest.

The white-cheeked black langur has a long tail, black fur, and white cheeks. Before 1990, this langur species was present in 23 countries with 2,000-2,500 individuals, but now lives mainly in southwestern China and northeastern Vietnam (estimated at 500 individuals).
According to the Management Board of Kim Hy Nature Reserve, recently, the reserve has also discovered a number of bears reappearing after many years of absence.
