Student grabbed teacher's hair and knocked her down: Ministry of Education and Training issues urgent instructions

(Dan Tri) - According to the Ministry of Education and Training, the incident of a 7th grade student grabbing the teacher's hair, pressing her head down, and knocking her down in the classroom is a very serious incident that affects teachers. The Ministry of Education and Training requires strict handling of all wrongdoings.

According to Mr. Vu Minh Duc, Director of the Department of Teachers and Educational Managers of the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET), this is a serious incident that affects the safety and health of teachers; negatively affects the educational environment and the nation's tradition of "respecting teachers and valuing education".

The incident is contrary to the regulations of the Government and the Ministry of Education and Training on building a safe, healthy, friendly educational environment and preventing school violence. Therefore, all wrongdoings must be strictly handled according to the law.

Regarding the handling of students, the Ministry of Education and Training believes that in special cases, it is necessary to consider appropriate measures to ensure both education and deterrence and create conditions for students to correct their mistakes.

The Ministry of Education and Training also requested the Hanoi Department of Education and Training to learn from experience and direct schools, especially Dai Kim Secondary School, to focus on building a safe, healthy, democratic pedagogical environment without school violence.

“The school pays attention to moral education, awareness of law compliance, and respect for teachers towards students; does a good job of school psychological counseling, promptly detects cases of students showing abnormal psychological signs to coordinate education.

The school board must promptly detect and prevent student misconduct; closely coordinate with students' families and local authorities to ensure school safety," the Ministry of Education and Training requested.

Previously, on the afternoon of September 16, at Dai Kim Secondary School, a 7th grade male student grabbed the hair, pressed down on the head, and knocked down the homeroom teacher right in the classroom to take back a dangerous toy.

After the incident, the Board of Directors of Dai Kim Secondary School organized for students to admit their mistakes, invited parents to work to agree on educational measures; promptly encouraged and stabilized the teachers' spirit; reported to the Ward People's Committee and relevant agencies to coordinate the resolution.

The school asked the family to take the student for a mental health check, but as of the evening of September 19, the family still had not reported the student's health to the school.

The Ministry of Education and Training has issued a document requesting local authorities to promptly verify and strictly handle violations, if any, in accordance with the law to ensure the safety of life, health, honor and dignity of teachers while performing their duties.
