On September 21, a leader of the Central Highlands General Hospital confirmed that the unit had sent health check-up invitations to patients who had come to the hospital for laser lithotripsy while the machine was broken.
The Central Highlands General Hospital invites patients to the hospital to check their current health status to detect early urinary system diseases (if any) for monitoring and timely treatment.

The invitation also stated that the hospital will invite specialists in the field of Nephrology and Urology from other hospitals to coordinate in examining and assessing the health of visitors.

Previously, the Dak Lak Department of Health directed Phu Yen Provincial General Hospital, Thien Hanh General Hospital, and Buon Ma Thuot University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital to send nephrology and urology specialists to participate in screening examinations for patients who could not receive laser lithotripsy services due to broken machines at the Central Highlands General Hospital.
The Department of Health directed the Central Highlands General Hospital to urgently review medical records, record medical conditions, discharge status, and verify treatment methods performed for 255 cases of patients who did not receive laser lithotripsy services.
Thereby, proactively contacting patients to check their health status for free, clinical examination, paraclinical examination, and urinary system for 255 patients.
As Dan Tri reported, on July 22, the Dak Lak Department of Health coordinated with the Central Highlands General Hospital to conduct a professional inspection at the Nephrology - Urology Department of this hospital.
Here, it was discovered that 480 laser lithotripsy cases were performed at the hospital when the laser lithotripsy machine was broken and no longer in use. Of these, 255 patients did not use the machine but the doctors still applied the price to perform the surgery.
The Central Highlands General Hospital is reviewing and coordinating with Dak Lak Provincial Social Insurance to resolve payment of medical examination and treatment costs for patients who had lithotripsy while the machine was broken.
The Department of Health has transferred the case file to Dak Lak Provincial Police for investigation and clarification.
