Previously, on the afternoon of October 3, the Dak Lak Provincial Police Department prosecuted and temporarily detained Mr. Nguyen Dang Giap, Director of the Central Highlands General Hospital, for the crime of “Lack of responsibility causing serious consequences” against him. Defendant Nguyen Dang Giap was prosecuted and temporarily detained in connection with the case of a broken lithotripsy machine for 2 years but still declared that it had been lithotripsy for 255 patients.

Immediately after Mr. Nguyen Dang Giap was arrested, on October 4, the Dak Lak Department of Health assigned Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Thinh, Deputy Director of the Central Highlands General Hospital, to take charge of the hospital to handle the hospital's affairs while waiting for the competent authority to appoint a director. However, Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Thinh later submitted a request to decline the responsibility of being in charge of the Central Highlands General Hospital.
According to Mr. Nay Phi La, Director of the Dak Lak Department of Health, in response to Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Thinh's refusal to accept the assignment, the Department has requested the competent authority to assign him to be in charge of the Central Highlands General Hospital. "The Department of Health has proposed a number of personnel plans for the competent authority to assign and arrange qualified people to be in charge of the Central Highlands General Hospital. We cannot yet clearly state who to propose," the leader of the Dak Lak Department of Health informed.
Regarding the reason for refusing the responsibility of being in charge of the Central Highlands General Hospital, Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Thinh said that he personally wanted to focus on doing his best in professional activities at the hospital.
Regarding this case, previously, the Dak Lak Provincial Police Investigation Agency prosecuted and temporarily detained Nguyen Ngoc Hoang (born in 1977, Head of the Department of Nephrology and Urology) and Bui Ngoc Duc (born in 1974, Head of the Department of Surgery and Anesthesia and Resuscitation of the hospital) for the act of "Taking advantage of position and power while performing official duties".
The Standing Committee of the Central Steering Committee on the prevention and control of corruption, waste and negativity has unanimously agreed to put the case of "Abusing position and power while performing official duties" at the Central Highlands General Hospital under the supervision and direction of the Steering Committee. Currently, the case is being further investigated by the Investigation Police Agency of Dak Lak Province Police to clarify the actions of the individuals involved.
