Economic position of tourism

In 2023, tourism revenue is estimated to reach 7,950 billion VND, 2 times higher than in 2022. Social income from tourism is estimated to reach 18,683 billion VND. Tourism services are identified as a priority service industry of Quang Nam.

Although the contribution rate to the provincial budget is not much, tourism with increasingly improved service quality is identified as a key economic sector that helps to strongly improve the material and spiritual life of the community, especially in areas with developed tourism activities.

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Hong - Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism said, Quang Nam aims to build the province into one of the tourism service centers of the Central region and the whole country; build national and international tourism brands and products; preserve and effectively promote resources and advantages for tourism service development; focus on developing open tourism in rural and mountainous areas...

On that basis, Quang Nam will develop tourism links with Da Nang, the Central Highlands region and neighboring provinces to form tours and circular tourism routes within the province and between Quang Nam and provinces and cities in the linked region.

The province will focus on investing in tourism products and services, aiming to build the brand "Quang Nam - Green tourism destination", associated with strong development in key tourism areas, closely linking with the region and economic corridors to expand development and enhance competitiveness. At the same time, focus on investing in developing tourism types and products with strengths in local tourism resources.

Recently, Quang Nam has implemented the Project of renting services of "Quang Nam Province Smart Tourism System"; coordinated with VNPT and Vietnam National Administration of Tourism to complete the connection of the Smart Tourism System Database with the digital platform.

The province has also coordinated with the National Tourism Administration to conduct a survey of the Tourism Digital Transformation project; surveyed a number of units to prepare for consulting on the implementation of writing an outline for the Quang Nam Province Interconnected Accommodation Database System.

Raise the bar to be worthy

As a province in the top group of international tourist attractions in the country, but tourism revenue is still relatively modest (out of the top 10), Quang Nam will still have a lot to do to improve tourism services to create even greater added value.

According to Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Le Tri Thanh, in 2024, Quang Nam will focus on developing tourism types, especially attracting high-end tourism projects in coastal areas. Accelerating the implementation of key urban and tourism projects in the eastern region.

Focus on developing cultural and ecological tourism, with the two world cultural heritages of My Son Sanctuary and Hoi An Ancient Town as the center of diffusion. The province will link tourism development with the development of small-scale industries, craft villages and rural areas; continue to invest in developing tourism infrastructure.

In particular, focus on investing in upgrading and exploiting Chu Lai airport; developing sea and island tourism; eco-tourism in Cu Lao Cham, Phu Ninh lake; cultural tourism, community tourism. At the same time, integrate programs to embellish, protect and promote the value of heritage and relics; restore and develop craft villages and protect the environment.

Focus on developing waterway tourism along river and sea routes. The investment orientation for tourism development according to the planning of Quang Nam province for the period of 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050, has determined to focus on attracting investment, building entertainment - shopping - culinary complexes associated with the night economy in areas with tourism, trade and service development such as Hoi An City and Tam Ky City because this type of tourism in Quang Nam is still very limited. This will be an important factor to extend the length of stay and increase the average daily spending of tourists to Quang Nam, thereby improving the efficiency of tourism business.
