On February 14th, in Vung Tau City ( Ba Ria - Vung Tau province), the Command of Naval Region 2, along with agencies and units throughout the Long Son base, organized the launching ceremony of the "Tree Planting Festival to Forever Remember President Ho Chi Minh".
This activity is in celebration of the 65th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's launch of the "Tree Planting Festival" (1959-2024), the 15th anniversary of the establishment of the 2nd Naval Region (March 19, 2009 - March 19, 2024); and in anticipation of the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army (December 22, 1944 - December 22, 2024); and in implementation of the Prime Minister's program to plant one billion trees "For a Green Vietnam".

At the launching ceremony, Colonel Le Ba Quan, Deputy Commander and Chief of Staff of Naval Region 2, emphasized the purpose and significance of the event. He also requested that Party committees and commanders at all levels continue to lead and direct the effective dissemination of information and education to officers and soldiers regarding the purpose and significance of tree planting; the great role, effects, comprehensive and long-term benefits, and humanitarian value of planting and caring for trees in accordance with barracks planning, soil conditions, and the number and types of trees. He stressed the importance of practical, economical, and effective organization; and promoting the active and responsible participation of all officers and soldiers in planting, caring for, and protecting trees.

Following the launching ceremony, on February 14th, officers and soldiers from the headquarters of the 2nd Naval Region Command, along with units throughout the base, proceeded to care for trees and ornamental plants and improve the landscape of the barracks.
In the coming period, the Command of Naval Region 2 and its subordinate units will continue to plant over 3,000 new trees. These include 1,000 melaleuca trees, 420 Dipterocarpus trees, 550 Dipterocarpus trees, 165 mahogany trees, 530 Dalbergia tonkinensis trees, and 520 bougainvillea trees… to green the barracks, creating a regular, green, clean, and beautiful environment.
