On February 18, the leader of the Can Loc District Medical Center, Ha Tinh, confirmed that an officer of the unit had just traveled dozens of kilometers to Nghe An to donate a unit of blood, helping a patient have a successful surgery.

The unit's officer is Mr. Dang Ba Cuong (44 years old) - chief technician of the diagnostic imaging department.

Previously, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Tam (60 years old, residing in Vuong Loc commune, Can Loc) was seriously injured and was treated at Nghe An Provincial General Hospital.

He was forced to undergo surgery and needed ORh- blood. However, Mr. Tam's relatives and medical facilities currently do not have this blood type.

On the afternoon of February 16, Mr. Cuong received a call from Mr. Tam's relative asking for help. Mr. Cuong happily accepted and on the morning of February 17, he drove 60km from Can Loc District Medical Center to Nghe An Province Hematology Center to donate a unit of blood to help Mr. Tam.

According to Mr. Cuong, the ORh- blood type is a rare blood type, it is estimated that the number of people with this blood type accounts for about 0.04-0.07% of the population (out of 10,000 people, there are only 4-7 people).

"Helping people in need is everyone's responsibility. I feel very happy to have donated blood to help the patient's surgery be successful," said Mr. Cuong.

It is known that Mr. Cuong is a member of the Rh- Ha Tinh Rare Blood Group Club. Since 2001, he has donated blood many times to help patients.

"Mr. Cuong has a rare blood type. When he learned that a patient needed this blood type for surgery, he did not hesitate to travel a long distance to donate blood to save the patient. This spirit is very commendable of a doctor who is devoted to his patients" - the leader of Can Loc District Medical Center shared.
