The 2023 World Wushu Championships will take place in Texas (USA) with the participation of 500 athletes from 72 countries and territories. In this year's tournament, the World Wushu Federation and the Organizing Committee will compete in the men's taolu category with 11 sets of medals and the women's taolu category with 11 sets of medals. Meanwhile, in the competition, the Organizing Committee will compete in 7 weight categories for men and women from 48kg to 75kg.
The Vietnamese wushu team participated with 13 martial artists including Duong Thuy Vi, Nguyen Thi Lan, Phuong Nga, Kieu Trang, Phuong Giang, Thu Thuy, Phuong Nhi, Manh Cuong, Duy Hai, Huy Hoang, Do Dat, Van Tam, Nong Van Huu.
On the final day of competition of the 2023 World Wushu Championships taking place on the morning of November 21 (Vietnam time), the Vietnamese wushu team won 3 more Gold Medals thanks to the efforts of martial artists: Huynh Do Dat (men's 70kg category), Nguyen Thi Lan (women's 48kg category) and Nguyen Thi Thu Thuy (women's 60kg category).
The team's two previous Gold Medals were won by athlete Dang Tran Phuong Nhi in the women's male stick and women's male fist events. Notably, Phuong Nhi also won a Silver Medal in the women's male knife performance event.
In addition, the Vietnamese wushu athletes who won medals in this tournament are Tran Huy Hai (Silver Medal, Men's 48kg category), Nguyen Manh Cuong (Silver Medal, Men's 60kg category), Hoang Thi Phuong Giang (Bronze Medal, Women's Saber Technique), Dinh Van Tam (Bronze Medal, Men's 52kg category) and Ngo Thi Phuong Nga (Bronze Medal, Women's 52kg category).
In the end, the Vietnamese wushu team won a total of 5 gold medals, 3 silver medals, and 3 bronze medals. This is the best achievement of Vietnamese wushu in participating in the world championship.
