As strong as dragon fruit agriculture

Commerce and services have also appeared along with the dragon fruit production and trading profession and also to meet the needs of people's lives, so they have "blossomed" in all three places. Depending on the time when the price of dragon fruit is high or low, these services will be bustling or quiet. Some businesses and establishments will dissolve, while others will become larger. However, in reality, compared to other crops, dragon fruit still brings in better income.
Therefore, when merging the above 3 communes into Ham Kiem commune, it also gathered achievements and figures, proving that agriculture is the leading pillar. As has been implemented the Project on restructuring the agricultural sector towards linking value chains, increasing added value and sustainable development, mainly focusing on dragon fruit.
There are 12 farms, 3 cooperatives, 10 cooperative groups; including the following models: 2 industrial pig farms; 1 breeding cow farm; 2 crop farms, including 1 high-tech melon farm and 1 farm combining dragon fruit production and agricultural material supply. All operate effectively. Most dragon fruit farms apply technical advances, mechanization and automation, saving labor, bringing high economic efficiency.
People participate in VietGap groups, 22 new groups have been established with 329 participating households. Accordingly, the total area newly granted VietGap certificates is more than 4,063/5,958 hectares of total dragon fruit area in the commune. In addition, 1 cooperative has signed a contract to link and consume dragon fruit according to the value chain with a scale of 103 hectares. There are 5 OCOP products...
Thanks to agriculture, specifically dragon fruit, it has contributed to the development of commercial and service activities. Notably, markets such as Ham Cuong market were newly built, Ham Kiem market was repaired and a number of commercial establishments were invested in and put into operation, deciding to expand the business network, contributing to the supply of goods, creating jobs, contributing to the overall economic growth value and local budget revenue.
Not only that, from the income of dragon fruit, the 3 communes before the merger and the people have joined hands to build the socio-economic infrastructure. Specifically, 40 cement concrete roads were solidified with a total amount of 21.5 billion VND, of which the mobilized capital from the people (35%) was nearly 7 billion VND. In addition, there was support from investment sources of the province and the Central Government of hundreds of billions of VND, implementing the construction of works and projects in the area, contributing to building the infrastructure in Ham Kiem commune as spacious as today.
Therefore, if we look back at the past 5 years, with the determination to focus on developing the 3 pillars of agriculture - industry - tourism , the 3 communes have implemented the economic restructuring in the right direction. Agriculture has become the strongest, leading in the determined structure.
But industrial forecasts will be stronger
After the merger, Ham Kiem commune has gathered many strengths, when projects and works have appeared and will appear, opening up new development space in which there are many factors for industrial development. In addition, 4 key resolutions of the Politburo issued in late 2024 and early 2025 is the concretization of development goals, innovation of new development thinking from "management" to "service", from "protection" to "creative competition", from "passive integration" to "active integration", from "dispersed reform" to "comprehensive, synchronous and profound breakthrough". Including Resolution No. 68-NQ/TW, dated May 4, 2025 on private economic development suitable to local practical situation in the new period.
The leader of Ham Kiem commune shared that, if combined with the current conditions of Ham Kiem commune, the remaining clean land fund of the two industrial parks Ham Kiem 1 (with an area belonging to Tuyen Quang commune), Ham Kiem 2 with a total area of 250 hectares is being promoted by the province to call for investment, with efforts to fill it up by 2026. That is feasible, because with the favorable factors converging in all aspects for investors to come, the two industrial parks in the commune all meet. Moreover, it is expected to be like a goose laying golden eggs. On the other hand, both industrial parks have attracted 38 projects, of which 17 projects have come into operation and in the past 7 months have brought in revenue of 975 billion VND, export turnover of 340 million USD, paid the budget of 19.8 billion VND and created jobs for more than 5,000 workers.

In addition, from many projects and works that have been and will be implemented, the commune has more land funds to attract investment and choose investors. In that direction, attracting resources to build residential areas, forming urban areas to welcome the labor force from many places will create a breakthrough.
Of course, the above development process will also have weaknesses, but compared to the disadvantages of agriculture such as unprocessed products, low quality, and heavy dependence on one key market... it still has advantages.

Therefore, after discussion, the Standing Committee of the Commune Party Committee determined that it was necessary to shift industry from agriculture to industry, aiming to develop according to the economic structure: Industry - service - agriculture.
In the Political Report of the Ham Kiem Commune Party Committee, the contents of promoting economic development towards industrialization and modernization were emphasized.
The first of which is "Continue to implement the four key resolutions of the Politburo, creating a favorable environment for local economic development. Pay attention to removing difficulties and supporting businesses to develop production and business. Continue to create favorable conditions for renewable energy projects to develop stably; coordinate to attract secondary investment projects in Ham Kiem 1 and Ham Kiem 2 Industrial Parks, contributing to increasing the occupancy rate of industrial parks and enhancing the value of industrial production in the area".
In addition, there are other contents on continuing to effectively implement Resolution No. 05-NQ/TU, dated September 10, 2021 of Binh Thuan Provincial Party Committee (term XIV) on developing modern, sustainable, high-value-added agriculture; on strengthening the mobilization, attraction and effective use of resources, basically completing the essential infrastructure system to serve the local socio-economic development.
The above calculation shows the exchange of 2 positions between agriculture and industry, and the service stands in the middle of the connection and whichever side develops will also affect the development of the service. But if the leading position is industry, the above pull is groundbreaking.

Developing industrial and handicraft infrastructure according to the Provincial Planning for the period 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050; coordinating with departments and branches to promote investment, creating favorable conditions to attract secondary investment projects in Ham Kiem I and Ham Kiem II Industrial Parks; prioritizing investment in developing renewable energy projects, clean energy, social housing development projects, trade - services, high-tech parks, etc.
