Social Retirement Benefits - More Joy for the Elderly

As of July 25, 2025, Tan Ninh Ward has received 270 applications eligible for social pension benefits. It is estimated that the ward has more than 1,800 beneficiaries under Decree 176.

Mr. Trang Van Bao - Head of the Front Work Committee of Hiep Thanh Ward, Tan Ninh Ward, said: "When the ward deployed and implemented, our ward also deployed to all self-management groups, to each household with eligible subjects to notify. And many elderly people came to register their records."

These days, in Tra Vong commune, officers of the Department of Culture and Social Affairs are receiving and synthesizing people's records.

Head of the Department of Culture and Social Affairs of the commune, Nguyen Thai Sung, informed that as of July 24, 2025, 195 applications have been received (including 4 applications of poor and near-poor households). The Department continues to receive and complete the applications, and advise the Commune People's Committee to make decisions on payment to the people. It is estimated that by the end of 2025, Tra Vong commune will have about 300 subjects eligible to enjoy the policy under Decree 176.

By mid-July, the commune began reviewing and receiving applications. Initially, people went to the Public Administration Service Center to complete the procedures, but the results were not very effective.

After that, the Commune Social and Cultural Office deployed to the hamlets to coordinate with the hamlet chiefs and organizations to go to people's houses to collect information, compile records and then send them to the General Office. Thanks to that, the implementation process is faster and more effective.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Nhan (right, residing in Suoi Ong Dinh hamlet, Tra Vong commune) is happy to receive social pension benefits.

Ms. Than Thi Thu Thuy - Head of Suoi Ong Dinh Hamlet, Tra Vong Commune, said that the hamlet has collected and submitted 35 applications that are eligible for the policy under Decree 176. The hamlet does not have any subjects under the Decree who are poor or near-poor households. Upon receiving instructions from the commune, she coordinated with the Elderly Association of the hamlet to review and find subjects that are eligible to apply for the subsidy, and so far, they have basically met all the requirements.

Ms. Thuy added: “Propaganda work is very important. This is a humane policy, people are very excited. In particular, this policy cannot be paid back, so the review and preparation of records must be carried out carefully and promptly so that people can enjoy the policy in July.”

Many people, when benefiting from the new policy, were very happy with the timely and appropriate attention from the Party and State.

Mrs. Nguyen Thi Nhan (residing in Suoi Ong Dinh hamlet, Tra Vong commune) has just turned 75 years old and has completed the application for social pension benefits. She happily said: "I am very happy to hear that I will soon receive monthly benefits and health insurance. Old people like me will feel more secure if they have health insurance." This July, both she and her husband will receive social benefits and health insurance.

Coming to the Hiep Thanh ward office to register his documents, Mr. Nguyen Van Ba (75 years old, living in Hiep Thanh ward) excitedly said: "This is the first time I have received social assistance, so I am very happy. I am very grateful for the attention of the Party and the State"./.

On June 30, 2025, the Government issued Decree No. 176/ND-CP detailing and guiding the implementation of a number of articles of the Law on Social Insurance on social pension benefits, which specifically stipulates the subjects and conditions for receiving social pension benefits: Vietnamese citizens aged 75 or older who do not receive pensions or receive monthly social insurance benefits; or are receiving pensions or monthly social benefits lower than the pension level prescribed in this Decree; Vietnamese citizens aged 70 to under 75 who are poor or near-poor households according to Government regulations and meet the prescribed conditions. The monthly social pension benefit level is VND 500,000/person.

The Decree also clearly states that, depending on socio-economic conditions, the ability to balance the budget, and mobilize social resources, the Provincial People's Committee shall submit to the People's Council of the same level a decision on additional support for beneficiaries of social pension benefits. This regime and policy will take effect on July 1, 2025.
