Tay Ninh: Nearly 300 billion VND to build Phuoc Tan main border gate

Detailed planning of the investment project to build Phuoc Tan main border gate

The project has just been approved by the Provincial People's Committee to adjust the investment policy, with a total capital of more than 287 billion VND, to improve the efficiency of management and control of border areas and promote trade of goods between Vietnam and Cambodia. Of which, the construction cost is more than 132 billion VND, site clearance is more than 94 billion VND, the rest is equipment cost, contingency and other expenses.

The project is implemented on an area of nearly 21 hectares, including many items such as: a joint control station combined with the National Gate, a square, a ceremonial yard, a Border Guard control station, expansion of Provincial Road 781 (the main axis of the border gate) and Road No. 1 connecting the border patrol route to serve people passing through the border gate area. The project implementation period is from 2025 to 2028.

According to the Tay Ninh Provincial Construction Investment Project Management Board, the unit is completing the feasibility study documents, submitting the project for appraisal and approval; at the same time, preparing the conditions to start construction before April 30, 2026.

The project has 17 households and 4 organizations affected by site clearance. Ninh Dien Commune People's Committee has approved the compensation and resettlement support plan with a total cost of more than 91 billion VND. Tay Ninh Province Construction Investment Project Management Board is coordinating with relevant units to implement procedures to pay affected households and organizations.

Along with this project, the Tay Ninh Provincial Construction Investment Project Management Board is urgently completing the final items of Tan Nam International Border Gate (Tan Bien Commune), ensuring sufficient conditions for acceptance, handover, putting into use and organizing the opening ceremony of the Tan Nam - Meun Chey International Border Gate pair, expected to take place in November 2025 with the participation of leaders of the Governments of Vietnam and Cambodia.

Tay Ninh has a border with Cambodia of about 369km long with 4 international border gates, 4 main border gates and 13 secondary border gates. Immigration and cross-border trade activities have been quite developed in recent years.

In the first 9 months of 2025, the total import-export turnover through Phuoc Tan border gate reached over 150 million USD (export reached nearly 107 million USD, import reached nearly 44 million USD). The main export goods are electric cables of all kinds, processed foods, animal feed, agricultural products, household appliances, etc.; the main import is rice and some raw agricultural products, processed agricultural products.

In addition, the turnover of goods transferred through the border gate at Phuoc Tan reached nearly 60 million USD; the total value of goods bought and sold by border residents reached nearly 740 billion VND./.
