At the conference, Mr. Tran Hong Nam, Member of the Board of Members of the Vietnam National Industry and Energy Group ( Petrovietnam ), shared about the potential, advantages and orientation of Petrovietnam's participation in the field of offshore wind power, a field considered one of the strategic directions to realize Vietnam's commitment to net zero emissions by 2050.

Mr. Tran Hong Nam emphasized that offshore wind power is a promising energy source, but to deploy it effectively, it is necessary to consider many factors synchronously, including the legal framework, infrastructure, power purchase agreement (PPA) and transmission capacity of the national grid system. In particular, the most important thing is to complete the legal framework to create an equal and transparent environment, attract investors, and at the same time develop the domestic supply chain, contributing to reducing project costs and electricity prices.

According to Mr. Tran Hong Nam, with extensive experience in implementing energy projects, oil and gas exploration and exploitation, Petrovietnam has the advantage of understanding technical processes, safety standards, as well as organizational capacity to participate deeply in the offshore wind power value chain. The Group has produced foundations for offshore wind turbines for export to foreign countries, affirming its manufacturing capacity and localization potential.
Petrovietnam also aims to develop products and services related to the offshore wind power sector, thereby expanding the value chain. In addition, the Group will also strengthen cooperation with financial institutions to mobilize capital for offshore wind power projects.
