Opening of a section of National Highway 40B bordering Quang Ngai

DNO - On the afternoon of November 6, Deputy Director of the Department of Construction of Da Nang City, Tran Ngoc Thanh, confirmed that the landslide on National Highway 40B had been fixed, opening the route to the border of Quang Ngai province.

Previously, the management unit of National Highway 40B from the beginning of the route to km85+850 (in Tra Tan commune), Quang Nam Road Management and Construction Joint Stock Company, had completed the installation of temporary culverts and filled the land to make a temporary road at km82+500. After many days of traffic jams, vehicles can now move in a single lane through this location.

Another unit assigned to manage the section from km85+850 to the end of Da Nang city at km141+080 (bordering Quang Ngai province) is Quang Nam Traffic Construction Joint Stock Company.

By the morning of November 6, the work of clearing landslides and ensuring traffic safety was carried out to km136+000 (Tra Linh commune).

Mr. Nguyen Truong Thanh Vu, Director of the QL40B Management Enterprise (Quang Nam Traffic Construction Joint Stock Company) said that the section of the route assigned to the management unit by the City Department of Construction had landslides on the positive slope, with rocks and soil filling the road surface and longitudinal ditches at 107 locations. The estimated volume of landslides was up to ^450,000m3 .

On the morning of November 6, the unit mobilized all its human resources and equipment to continue clearing some of the traffic jams scattered along the remaining 5km stretch of road. By 3:00 p.m. the same day, the first phase of the work to clear the road was completed in the border area of ​​Quang Ngai province.

Mr. Vu added that after storm No. 13 and the floods caused by the storm pass, the design consultant will come up to measure and determine the volume, and the unit will continue to clear the remaining area.
