A broken dike completely damaged dozens of hectares of rice in Tuyen Binh commune.
In recent days, floodwater from upstream combined with high tides and local rains have damaged hundreds of hectares of rice in the upstream communes of the Dong Thap Muoi region of the province.
In Tuyen Binh commune, the peak on October 23 and 24 was the prolonged heavy rain combined with floods, causing the water level to rise rapidly. The whole commune had more than 1,000 hectares of Autumn-Winter rice flooded, of which 158 hectares were completely damaged (Chòi Mội hamlet 10 hectares, Trung Môn 40 hectares, Lang Dao 30 hectares, Cà Na 78 hectares), estimated rice output was about 790 tons, damage of about 4.7 billion VND; the remaining area of about 850 hectares, rice in the 15-70 day old stage was flooded due to local rain and water leaking from the dikes.
In response to the above situation, in recent days, local authorities have proactively deployed many response measures, regularly monitored, inspected and strengthened propaganda, mobilizing people to actively and proactively reinforce dikes, embankments and pump out water to protect rice. Many dikes have been built to prevent landslides, raising them 0.5m - 1m higher than the current water level.

Motor vehicles were mobilized to reinforce the dike and protect the remaining rice fields.
Chairman of Tuyen Binh Commune People's Committee Tran Tan Nho said: "Currently, the locality continues to closely monitor the situation, strengthen information and propaganda on the situation of floods, and is ready to mobilize militia forces, organizations and people to reinforce and raise the embankment, protecting the remaining rice fields. In addition, the locality recommends that people proactively protect production and fight floods within their capacity, ensuring the safety of life and property, and minimizing damage caused by rain and floods"./.
