In Tuyen Binh commune, on October 23rd and 24th, heavy and prolonged rain combined with flooding caused water levels to rise rapidly. Over 1,000 hectares of autumn-winter rice in the commune were flooded, with 158 hectares completely destroyed (10 hectares in Choi Moi hamlet, 40 hectares in Trung Mon, 30 hectares in Lang Dao, and 78 hectares in Ca Na), resulting in an estimated loss of 790 tons of rice and damages of approximately 4.7 billion VND. The remaining 850 hectares, with rice plants aged 15-70 days, were flooded due to local rainfall and water leakage from dikes.
In response to this situation, local authorities have proactively implemented various response measures over the past few days, regularly monitoring and inspecting the situation, and intensifying propaganda and mobilization efforts to encourage people to actively reinforce dikes and embankments and pump out water to protect rice crops. Many dike sections have been reinforced to prevent erosion and raised by 0.5m - 1m above the current water level.

Mechanical equipment was mobilized to reinforce the dikes and protect the remaining rice fields.
Chairman of the People's Committee of Tuyen Binh commune, Tran Tan Nho, said: “Currently, the locality continues to closely monitor the situation, strengthen information dissemination about the rain and floods, and is ready to mobilize militia forces, mass organizations, and people to reinforce and raise vulnerable embankments to protect the remaining rice fields. In addition, the locality advises people to proactively protect production and prevent floods to the best of their ability, ensuring the safety of lives and property, and minimizing damage caused by rain and floods.”
